Brock Mealer to drop the puck at Big Chill?
I know there has been lots of speculation on the suprise person who is dropping the puck today for the Big Chill, but I ask you who better than Brock Mealer? I understand that the opening game vs Uconn was a very special day for the Mealer family, but if anyone deserves an encore it would certainly be Brock. The Big Chill would be perfect! Now I doubt this happens, but I certainly would not mind seeing this again.

Who would you rather have?
Dave Brandon dropped the puck on this one.
Pun definitely intended

Personally, I'd like it to be a Hockey legend.
Scotty Bowman would probably be a good choice.

Scotty would be great, but I'd go for Gordie Howe myself.

I'm pretty sure Gordie Howe dropped the puck at the Cold War. Otherwise, I'd agree.

Well, Brock does know more about football.

If that happens, somebody better be standing next to Brian Cook with the defibrillator paddles ready.

I didn't know it was a surprise, but I thought that I read in an email from the athletic department that it was the director of the Big Chill film, Lawrence Kasdan.

in the pre-game festivities. He's the alum behind the movie of the same name, but... Maybe he could direct the fireworks and let a hockey legend have the honors with the puck.

--according to an annarbor.com story:
Dropping the puck
Given the weight The Big Chill carries in the event name, it only makes sense to involve Lawrence Kasdan and Barbara Bededek, the two co-writers of the screenplay for the 1983 film. Kasdan and Bededek will drop the puck in a pregame ceremony. Kasdan received his master's degree from Michigan in education.
Kasdan went on to write screenplays for "The Empire Strikes Back," "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Return of the Jedi."
Video clips from "The Big Chill" will be shown on the scoreboard during breaks in the game, and music from the film's soundtrack will serve as backdrop for postgame fireworks.
