Week 6 Coaches Poll Released- MSU #16 UM #17
Take a look. I like that msu jumped us in both polls. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/usatpoll.htm How in the heck is lsu in the top ten?

because they obviously have more speed than anyone in any other conference ever.

The people that vote in the coaches poll (grad assistants assigned the job by FBS coaches) only watch one game each Saturday and don't follow the news too closely. LSU and Tennessee are good names, LSU started in a good position, and is still undefeated.

And yet if Tennessee doesn't have 13 men on the field when LSU botches that snap, they fall in the polls.
That's how idiotic the sliding scale that the pollsters use.

I am so glad we do not have Les Miles

Yes. This is the Coaches Poll. Not to be confused with the AP Poll that was posted earlier.

State absolutely deserved to.

Florida got spanked by 'Bama and they're still in the top 20. They have not showed anything worthy of that ranking, but b/c of preseason hype and Urban Meyer, they are somehow still ahead of more deserving teams ie State, Arkansas, etc.

Michigan more motivation to beat MSU to start out the revenge tour!

The national media is going to look at State's win over Wisconsin and be impressed. But is state really that good, or is Wisconsin not what we thought they were? I suggest it's the latter. A quick check of Wisconsin's schedule shows they haven't been that impressive so far. Prior to the state game, they had one road game, at UNLV. They only beat San Jose State by 13, and they survived a scare against ASU by 1 point due to a missed PAT and the ASU kick returner being tackled at the 1 yard line just before half. If he gets in, maybe it's another story. Middle of the PAC-10 teams traveling across country should not put that big a scare into a top 15 team. I didn't watch the UW-MSU game for obvious reasons, but how does Wisconsin lose by 10 when they win the turnover battle by 3? State only punted once in the game, leading me to believe that wisconsin's defense is vulnerable.
Let's not forget that state needed OT to beat ND. I think we've got a good shot at beating them, and a better shot at beating UW based on yesterday. PSU's offense was atrocious yesterday. Iowa appears to be the biggest challenge between here and columbus, and we should have won at Iowa last year. I think you can see where I'm headed with this, but it's too early for me to put it in print...

to hell with MSU
October 3rd, 2010 at 4:26 PM ^
between UM and MSU will be moot by this time next week. We'll either be No. 17, or lower than we are today. Obviously, the "coaches" think that Wisky is better than IU.

I prefer going in as the underdog in the polls and to be fair, I don't see them jumping us as undeserved.

the team that wins this weekend will be ranked higher than the loser.
A small difference in ranking of teams that still play each other is meaningless. The difference between, say, Oregon & Boise could be monumental.

Ohio State deserves to be under Oregon after the Illinois game. Oregon lit up a very good and ranked Stanford team. Ohio State barely made it past Illinois. There must be some halo around that team that makes them and TP untouchable. Pretty amazing.

This gives Michigan even more locker room bulletin board material. Most of the instate media will predict MSU to win this game, too. I want MSU to be overconfident going into this game, and I want Michigan to play as if their lives depend on winning it. No team or fanbase has gotten more mileage out of two victories than MSU has.
It's time to shut up Sparty for awhile.
