Michigan Moves to #6 Recruiting Class in Nation
With the commitment of South Carolina OL Quinton Washington, the University of Michigan, per Rivals, has moved up to the Sixth best recruiting class in the nation. I won't go into my problems with Scout (Who lists UM somewhere around 15 and MSU at 35) but, frankly, I'd rather get my recruiting news from Ziggy cartoon strips on Sunday. Going past surprising upstart North Carolina, Michigan now boasts:
2nd best DT (All Hail Thor!)
7th best DB
t8th best Athlete
t11th best QB (Damn you Beaver!)
15th best OL
15th best DE
t20th best RB
t26th best K
t31st best WR (they only have one people!)
32nd best LB
The bottom half looks depressing until you look at the number of players recruited and signed. It's hard to have a top 25 WR class when you sign one guy, etc. Stealing Washington from Spurrier is not only satisfying because it's Steve Spurrier and a pull from SEC country but, in addition, is satisfying because another linesman in the grey winter of depression that was Michigan's OL this past year is ALWAYS good.
Of course this post is absolutely MEANINGLESS come, oh... 12 hours from now. With a little snake oil, some key commitments from a certain WR and DT and we're cooking with gas. If not... well 3-9 wasn't that bad this year was it? We could do it ag- forget it.
For now, Michigan is in the Orange Bowl of BCS Recruiting, an analogy that makes zero sense but... fuck it, I don't care.
Current Big Ten Rankings:
OSU #1 - 26 (WTF!?)
UM #6 - 21
MSU #14 - 23
PSU #26 - 26 (WTF!?)
Illinois #36 - 20
Wisconsin #44 - 20
Minnesota #47 - 18
Northwestern #56 - 18
Indiana #58 - 18
Iowa #61 (Travel Rank: #1) - 18
Purdue #76 - 18
Also, Notre Dame's class, ranked #23, is the pre-season favorite, as a unit, to win the Fiesta Bowl as Weiss is pressing the team to win the BCS bowl for the rumored lifelong "to-your-door" delivery of taco chips that are delivered to the winning coach. More on Weiss and ND's failure to do shit with the academic/catholic/"holy crap we have Jesus in the background" mantra to come.

I'm shitting my pants that Joe Tiller will steal Forcier and Campbell for his local YMCA rec league just to piss us off.

A nice list, and Damn you Beaver! might as well be made into a shirt and sold on the corner of Hoover and State right now.
I'm still amazed by the number of recruits UNC has - I'm sure some of those 2* and 3* are hedging their bets, but tomorrow's conferences featuring the Tar Heels may be some of the most interesting in the country.

Frankly I don't think sports message board posters have seen Beaver worth posting about, if at all.

You know what the problem is? You're putting the Beaver on a pedestal. I think everyone needs to stop putting the Beaver on a pedestal.

R2 should have asked for a Beaver Retriever. That way your beaver will always comeback to you...just sayin.

MSU has the best class in the state and has more impact players than Michigan. I know this because that's what Tom Lemming says.

MSU is out recruiting touchdown jesus? Damn.

I just can't believe there is that much discrepancy between Scouts and Rivals.
I mean:
Texas A&M is 7 on Scout, 18 on Rivals
Florida State - 17 Scout, 8 Rivals
Penn State-10 Scout, 26 Rivals
Are these sites using different equations to come up with these rankings? I always thought they just added up the "value" of the recruits teams have (which sounds like a bullshit science in and of itself), is one site factoring in positions of need?
OT: Does Scout really have Stanford as a top 10 class?!? With 22 recruits they're higher than Penn State with 26. Jim Harbaugh, really?

How about MSU? 17 on Rivals - 35 on Scout. VaTech? 23 on Rivals - 43 on Scout. I've begun believing one of the guys at Rivals DJ'd the Scout site's owner and ran a train while the rest of the family was outside playing horseshoes because some of the restructuring is downright silly, even in the top 20 where you would think you should have a consensus of... 60-70% where they're within 2-4 spots of each other. but for Rivals to have Michigan at 6 and Scout say 'fuck you, 16'... someone banged someone's nana. that's all i'm sayin.

rankings? The answer is yes. You know the difference? They have completely different player rankings from each other.

Wy do people assume Scout is whack? For example, knowing how poor FSU's recruiting has been the last few years, their rating of FSU vs. Rivals' sounds pretty likely. Same for A&M. Why do we automatically assume Rivals is closer to the truth-because they like us??

hilarious you left this comment using whack...

....for all the guessing going on.
I read today that Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy were both three star recruits coming out of HS, and that Pat White was a 2 star because of his stubborn insistence that he was a QB.
