Bears sign Todd Collins to one year deal

Last year the Bears had only 2 qbs on the roster. This year they may go with three. Obviously Cutler, then probably Hanie (if his injury is not serious) leaving Collins with a great chance to get that Veteran 3rd-string spot; with rookie LeVever (sp?) out of CMU his main competition for a roster spot
Collins has lasted forever in the NFL.

As a Bears fan, his debut performance was absolutely atrocious and I really am scared about depending on Cutler. Collins was definitely needed.

... Jay Culter can be seen hanging out with Tom Collins most nights on Rush Street.

After that game, my Dad and I (I was 9 at the time) waited outside the visitor's locker room to watch the team get on the bus. Somehow Dad struck up a conversation with a couple next to us, and it turns they were Todd Collins' parents. They took down our address, and a few weeks later, Todd send me an autographed photo. Needless to say, he's been one of my favorite players. I hope he can hang on...being a Bears fan, I might have to pick up a Collins jersey.

he was picked up when they originally passed on collins. not sure if he'll be sticking around.

Actually Collins passed on the Bears' initial offer. He wanted guaranteed money rather than just be a rent-a-qb for the preseason.
Who can blame him? With that O-Line, the small weekly paycheck wouldn't be worth the punishment he'd be taking each game, only to be cut when Hanie comes back.

When I die and get reincarnated, I want to come back as Tom Collins. The man has lived a charmed life in football.
