Rich Rodriguez Poll

Submitted by mrlmichael on

Sorry if this has been done before. I was having a conversation with someone today who firmly believes most Michigan Fans want Rich Rodriguez to be fired. I argued that I believe the exact opposite. So I just wanted to create a poll, and ask a place I know is pretty much all Michigan football fans. You can vote in the poll by clicking the link:

Sorry if there is a way to actually post this in the forum without making an outside link, I couldn't figure out how.

Personally, I loved LC as a coach and felt he had earned the right to leave on his own terms. I feel that LC was at his best when the Big Ten was considered to be the toughest conference. I also love RR and can see shades of Bo when he goes crazy on a player for a missed assignment. Most of all, I love Michigan football and all who align themselves with the force.

I loved Lc as a coach and representative of M at all times. He DID wini an NC and he did win the Big 10 a LOT, these are things that are very, very hard to do. He was not perfect and I do think the program was on a down cycle when he left, but all programs go through cycles and very few programs are on top forever. If LC had been 10 years younger the year he retired and had another 10 years to coach at M, I don't think the program would have gone into the toilet and would have cycled back up and won many more Big 10 titles. Most of all, I am happy that he cared for his players like sons and was hell bent on doing what he could to help them on their path to graduation and success in life, whatever form that would take. Lloyd has absolutely nothing to apologize for.

I love RR and am happy to have an innovative, modern and results-oriented (the last 2 years notwithstanding) coach who lives and breathes work ethic, competition and discipline. I have no qualms about his character, despite what the local media would have you believe (and the more myopic and short-sighted of our fanbase do believe), quite the opposite based on everything I have read. He is not perfect. Taking over as head coach in a down cycle is far from ideal and i don't think anyone foresaw how painful this transition would be on the field or off. I do believe that RR will take us back to national prominence if given the chance and restore Michigan to it's place among the national elite. I also think he will do so with honor and will care for his players like sons and help them in every way he can toward graduation and success in life.

...that you advertise here? This is going to convince your Sparty friend that the Michigan fanbase wants him to be our coach? This = silliness

He said he doubtes thats how Michigan fans feel. Citing his living 25 miles from Ann Arbor and hearing "people talk in bars and things like that". I figure, if your going to make an attempt at seeing how Michigan fans feel on the internet, the best place to come is a place you know is mostly well informed Michigan fans.

...his notion is wrong based on the results of an internet poll with a tiny sample size of self-selected voters that frequent a website called "MGoBlog", then he's as stupid as he already sounds.

changed it's gonna cost you.  Dave Brandon if he is as smart as I believe he is.  The guy will not can RR if he wins less that X wins. I hope he's here for the duration of his contract at least.  There are many more factors to consider than have been mentioned by the must win X games and go to a bowl game or he's out crowd.  Personally I believe this tea will win more games this year than last.

I never hear people mention the APR which will without a doubt suffer.  There are kids here that will follow RR to his next school.  Michigans APR will no doubt crash and burn.  New coach new scheme, here we go a gain well he's got to get his recruits and his coaches to fit his scheme.  More defections and transfers.  Notre Dame called they want to charge us for using their formula to return to success.  It's too late to can him for NCAA violations Michigan has already said it's rather minor and they absolved him of total blame, the AD's compliance staff muffed that punt. If he is fired there will a lot of money paid to him.  And any new coach seeing this shit storm of a press lurking is going to ask for double his worth just to coach here.  Jimmy Hairball can't stop being a drunken frat boy long enough to satisfy the old guard and Mes Liles is as crazy as loon with is river boat gamblers calls, arguably he fields one of the most talent laden teams in the country and he can't win ten games, not to mention those questionable recruiting ethics of his in one of the most fertile recruiting regions in the country. Dave Brandon is a business man, he'll make the business decision regarding RR.  In business it's not just cutting your losses it;s also knowing when to cut those losses. Fortunately, RR will be here a long time.  His past says he will, his present behavior confirms it.

Yeah we haven't had the best of seasons we are acustomed to at michigan but RR is definitely what we need.  The man is a winner and a good recruiter, let me tell you this guy can find a diamond in the rough just about any where, for example Pat White. He was only a 3 star QB prospect that schools wanted to turn into a wide receiver.  I say let RR build his program than judge the man from there.  People will see that we got just the perfect coach to exact our revenge on the rest of the big ten and especially ohio state cause RR loves to run up the score!

I know most of the mgoboarders arent even awake yet but its morning here for me and just thought I would share how the poll went over night for what its worth.

Should Rich Rodriguez be the head coach of Michigan?

Yes 86.84% (653 Votes)

No 13.16% (99 Votes)

I also shared this poll with Maize n Brew after awhile and about 20 friends of mine I know that are Michigan fans. I dont know how accurate the poll can really be, its just an attempt because that discussion I had got me curious. I suppose when you look at it, you wont find many bigger more well informed Michigan fans then the ones on this board so to me that would be a pretty accurate reflection of fans. I know there are a lot of people out there that want him out, but I still believe the majority of the fan base is supportive.

All non-scientific polls are 100% useless.  Not just sort of useless, or close to correct...but 100% useless.  If you just wanted to do this for fun have at it, but if you intended to use this as "proof" or even the slightest bit of support for an argument, you are being intellectually dishonest.
