they seem to have omitted the cheating in the 2005 Alamo Bowl
in a Diary post from one of the more knowledgeable MGoCommunity members describing Nebraska beyond what general knowledge we all have. thanks for this link.
Do not sell your tickets to Cornhusker!
Definitely feeling good about us facing them in basketball, when was the last time they ever had a good team?
We aren't really that good either. Who knows what will show up on the court next year after losing Harris and Sims.
I hadn't thought about it, but this makes the Big Ten a volleyball powerhouse on par with the Pac 10, no?
On par? Big 10 was the volleyball powerhouse before Nebraska joining.
I know Nebraska-Omaha has one, but can someone ask them whether or not they have a good club team in Lincoln? Would love it if we can also get a new hockey conference out of all this.
No, Im from Omaha and they are not good in hockey, their basketball team is on the rise, they have a good wrestling, volleyball, and gymnastics teams and their baseball team hasn't been great these last few years. Thats just a Nebraskans assestments of our sports.
Their basketball team is on the rise? Really? ISu beat you twice and we finished second to last.
Not to be the guy yanking the welcome mat out from underneath Nebraska - heck, if I do say so myself, I said I wanted Nebraska and that I thought Nebraska would be interested long before it was cool to do so - but it seems to me that as the newcomer, Nebraska is the one that needs the primer on the Big Ten.
DId not realize Nebraska is one of only 3 BCS-Conference programs to never have won an NCAA Basketball Tourney game (Northwestern, South Florida)
What's the dollar estimate on how much it would cost the loudspeaker announcer to introduce Michigan as the Real 1997 National Champions for our first home game against the Huskers? I'm willing to set up a lemonade stand to raise some cash.
(you can neg me if you need... It's two in the morning here and this made me laugh when my friend asked me)
I'm an ISU fan alumn in Western Iowa. It's brutal. I honestly think they are worse fans than Ohio State. Seriously. I am not making this up. When we beat them (yes they turned it over 8 times) it was probably the best week of my college sports life. Everyone I work with was a fan and I had a ball. They ultimately (and I suppose it was justified) just said they gave the game away. Fine, but we didn't have our three best offensive players in the game. We started a RS freshman QB and running back. I think if we have our guys we win by 20, but that's not the point. If you go look at the tape of that game or check out the highlight vid on youtube of the turnovers you will see that we took the game more than they gave it. We forced all but one of those turnovers. ANywho, you will never see them run out of excuses. I guess I have to give them a little slack because it's Nebraska and all they have is football. Bo Pelini is disgusting on the sidelines but he's a pretty good interview because he's such a prick.
As far as basketball, I don't believe they have ever won a tournament game. Congrats now you have two of those teams. They don't care though. Most of their fans switch to Creighton once the basketball season starts. Volleyball is strong(We beat them in that in Lincoln too). Womens basketball was good last year too. Good luck with them. I will be cheering against them every game they play. Even when they play the Hawks.
