Teams we're rooting for go 4-7 on Friday

Submitted by sirnack on

Based off Seth's post yesterday, we went 4-7. Alabama and Askansas gave us upset wins in the SEC tournament, and WVU and UVA held serve. UCLA forced overtime but couldn't win. 9 of the 11 teams we were rooting for were underdogs, so I guess this isn't too bad. Also, Maryland got back to 75th in RPI, so our win against them is still quadrant one.

Today, we're rooting for Memphis, Bama, Arkansas, Houston, Kansas, and UNC.

We could pull for Buffalo and St. Bonaventure to beat Toledo and Davidson, who are in front of Penn State in RPI, but PSU needs to move up 3 spots and I don't see how that happens.

Don't see a way we would avoid them as the #2 and us a #3. If both sides, (not saying UM/Duke/UNC are lock for sweet 16, winning in tournament is hard) But if we meet in 16, who do we match up better against? UNC or Duke? I think a rematch with UNC is better. Simply think Duke's bigs will really hurt us and they are a better team in my opinion than UNC.

Cincinnati as the #2 in our region. The bracketology matrix has them as the #3 2 seed and Michigan as #3  3 seed. If one of us moved up one spot, we should land in the same region. Of course the committee may not agree with the matrix, but it looks like a realistic possibility.

I've already accepted the fact that MSU will play in Detroit and Michigan will play Duke in the second round somewhere far away from home. Because when does the NCAA ever do right by Michigan Basketball? I will not get my hopes up this time.
