Michigan Wrestling crowns 2, finishes 3rd as a team in B1G
Micic and Pa tales win titles, Coon loses in 3OT in a match he dominated. All around good showing and everyone but 141 and 149 AQ for NCAAs. 2 more weeks to close the gap
How exactly did he do that? He didn't commit to an offensive move the entire match.
He dominated by weighing 60 lbs more than his opponent.
How long until the NCAA finally adds a 216lbs weight class to sync up with International/Olympic wrestling standards?
More and more collegiate wrestlers every year are attempting to represent their country on the international stage, but everyone who is in the 216lbs weight class internationally are at a huge disadvantage. They either have to drastically cut weight every season to drop back down to the NCAA’s 197lbs class or stay at their Olympic competition weight, but wrestle athletes who are potentially 60lbs heavier than them.
Agreed. I thought he was trying to save his energy for the end but he didn’t get the one opportunity he was waiting on. There’s a reason Snyder is the best wrestler on the planet right now.
If there was another weight division we would have three grapplers crowned today.
Excited to see these two meet in the NCAA championship for the rubber match.
He was the one forcing all the action, and Snyder didn’t take a forward step until 1 min into the 2nd period, probably should have been hit with stalling at least twice. And all the action for 7minutes was hand fighting, which coon out did Snyder nearly every time contact was made, then Snyder would run.
Great job grapplers! Part of an epic Michigan weekend!
to Coon vs Snyder III. It was a good showing by the team. They have the potential to grab a podium spot!
Coon match was extremely close. He had a great strategy, but could not get riding time. If he can keep snyder down he wins. Hard to shoot on the olympic champ. I thought he had him on one of snyders attempts. No way snyder can keep coon down. One take down or riding time and coon beats him every time. I think Coon wins nationals and bloody's up Snyder more in rematch.
Wishing the team more success in the NCAA ‘s
