Sam Webb Says Michigan now interested in Shea Patterson

I wouldn't have thought the younger guys mind competition... presumably they are used to it?
Last year of eligibility becomes a different story. Jake Rudock never would have gotten signficant playing time being the backup to the Iowa guy whose name escapes me... and now he's earning an NFL paycheck. Speight is in the same situation and I hope he gets that NFL money too.
If we had depth at QB think of all the upside.

Not so sure about that. I've seen a couple coaches do that. Granted those were with players who had attitude problems and the coaches wanted to gauge if the players had issue with them. Also, those coaches weren't Harbaugh.
However, if Harbaugh landed the #1 QB recruit for class of '18, would Peters, McCaffrey, and the team have issues with that? Shea coming in is like a frosh coming in - in terms of competition. Although I am sure that a transfer sits differenty with players.

I hope he wears #20, I like that weird quirk among QB's across the nation, I don't think it's happened here since the leatherhead days.

Patterson coming to Michigan and winning the starting job doesn't end Peters at Michigan. Patterson, if he's good enough to unseat Peters, may go Pro. Michigan should blow out a lot more teams next year which means more reps for the backups. Peters still would have two more years. With inexperience at tackle, QBs who aren't mobile may not last the entire season. Patterson is mobile enough to survive. Not sure Peters is. The perfect scenerio is Patterson starting next year, going pro, and Peters stepping in the next 2 years.
