Wouldn't it be great if our fanbase let these kids know that we supported them no matter what?

These kids are not paid, are playing sports we love to watch, and receive holy hell if they ever underperform. Brian's post had a comment that the worst part of The job was the vocal minority....and I agree. Michigan is an amazing state and I'd love it if we supported these kids no matter what. Harbaugh's job is to make the team a success, and holding his team accountable. If we as fans wanted to help him, it would be letting the kids know that we support them no matter what. We could start with O'korn...if we wanted to own the change we want to see for this team and not part of the people that just complain.

OSU travels better than any Big Ten team and it's not even close. I've been to Michigan games and non-Michigan games all across the conference and OSU fans always show up in larger numbers on the road than any other fanbase.

Plus, even if Michigan fans specifically avoid Columbus (they don't) that's even more pathetic. I was at the 2016 and 2012 games and managed to get through them without any incidents at all. But it's a moot point because Michigan fans actually travel to Columbus much better than to other places like PSU.

There may be some trolls who bash the kids in social media but those are the 1 percenters. Most of us know they are playing their best and are trying hard to win. Once the youth of the team gains more experience and the depth improves we should see better results on the filed in another couple seasons. But I'll root for the team as hard as I have in the past, present and future.

If their off-field behavior does not meet my standard (or Harbaugh's, his actions so far indicate same diff), I won't support them.

If they don't match the boon of a scholarship at Michigan with appropriate effort, I won't support them.

My support is absolutely conditional.  That said, John O'Korn did nothing that I am aware of to lose my support.

I'm not responding to anyhting else about your post but one thing. These kids might not receive an income, other than their stipend, but they get housing and an education at one of the top universities in the world as well as coaching from one of the better football staffs in the world (who has sent a bunch to the nfl).

The football players are definitely not "not paid".

It would be great, but the problem is that "we" dont, in fact, support them no matter what, as you witnessed in Saturday's meltdown. Just to be clear, most people on this blog show great support. But "we," presumably referring to this blog in the collective, also have plenty of nut jobs. There are tons of great ways to show your support though beyond posting on this blog

Every fan base has fans that are passionate and extreme. Alabama fans shoot each other.

Can we stop being pussies and worrying that some tweet or post is going to crumble “The Rebuild” of the program? Overly sensitive much? We, the fans, are soft.

These players don’t need to be coddled. There is no crying in football.

There is being passionate, and then there is being an illogical entitled asshole. Personally, I don't want to be associated with extreme fans like Alabama. I think they're horrible for the game.

Also, your assertion that there is no crying in football is 100% inaccurate. Have you ever lost a playoff game and knew that was the last time you'd ever take the field with your brothers again? THERE IS ABSOLUTELY CRYING IN FOOTBALL. As there should be for anything you truly care about.

Yes, it would be great.  Its probably not realistic.  Its an unfortunate part of sports at this level, but this is a big time college football program, the players would experience similar levels of stupidity at other programs.  That doesnt make it right, but its just the reality.

It would've been nice to have a Big House full of Michigan fans against OSU, rather than the stadium being decked out in red and people doing the OHIO chant at the end.

And now the whole fanbase is being dumped on because some fans took it too far. A shame, as they don't know any better. And to call for everyone to shut up, even with legit analysis of the QB play in this game, is not an agreeable request.

That's why they came to the school that has the distinction of holding the largest crowd watching a game anywhere in America 7-8 Saturdays a year. All the vitriol spouted on Saturday had nothing to do with them as people, or their academics, it had to do with performance on the field. You can't spend your entire life with maize and blue goggles on or your epitaph will read "He waited until next year." Saturday was a game that was well within reach, and again, for about the 5th time in Harbaugh's tenure (MSU '15, Iowa, OSU, FSU '16) our guys didn't step on the throat of an opponent. The guys are mad at themselves, we are mad that we lost to our rival for the 13th time in 14 years. Everyone will be fine by the bowl game but we don't need to make a new thread about this EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Sure that would be great, but it wouldn’t come close to mitigating the ill effects of those who choose to seek out and vent their own personal frustrations on the players. Frankly, for that reason, I think the school should consider if not an altogether ban on social media accounts for players, then perhaps a blackout period during the season, or some other restrictions on public access to their profiles during that timeframe. There are just too many hot heads with no self control lurking about, and many of the players are still relatively young and impressionable, and are NOT headed toward multimillion dollar NFL contracts. Anyway, this has become an embarrassment that could have deleterious effects on recruiting going forward.

I think as fans, we have every right to be pissed when we lose a game we could/should win.  I think it's ok to be pissed at O'Korn for blowing it.  Harbaugh seemed pretty perturbed.  But I DON'T think it's ok to attack a student athlete personally since most of the attackers don't know the players personally.

I hate when Michigan loses.  But I've never hated a Michigan player.  I do however hate osu players, coaches, fans.  Even their babies.  Ok, maybe not the babies.

...and what baffles me is where these expectations come from. Michigan hasn't been truly elite in 20 years.  These people act like the B1G and Natty are Michigan's birthright.

And when I can't go, I given my tickets to family or friends. Was disappointed to still see way too many OSU fans in the stands. Don't sell your tickets!!
