OT: Some Rutgers supporters think it is underpaid by Big Ten

Delusional RUTGERZ fans at their finest: claiming BTN windfall would not have happened without Rutgers and the NYC market, comparing revenue to "rival" UM, and glossing over the fact that they add nothing of value directly. Good for a laugh on a slow weekend.

a boost in revenue is due to them being in and us getting to tap into the NYC market, but let's not pretend like we owe some debt of gratitude to Rutgers. They are fortunate they are in this league and they're getting paid because they contribute nothing on an athletic side and would still be an also-ran in the AAC if we didn't grab them.

I suppose you could imagine a scenario where the ACC grabs them if we don't but it's still the same scenario for them. They should be thankful they're near NYC because otherwise no major league would want them and they'd be some average mid-major school dreaming of a few of their teams making NCAA tournaments

Exactly. The B1G could have went out and grabbed Columbia and they'd bring the same thing to the conference that Rutgers does. The NYC market and easy wins. Rutgers isn't special.
