#18 M baseball beats Notre Dame, 4-3
The Michigan baseball team won its 7th straight game at a chilly Ray Fisher Stadium tonight by beating Notre Dame, 4-3.
Notre Dame scored 3 runs in the top of the first inning, but Michigan got their runs one at a time in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th, mostly using "small ball" but with a big assist from a couple of extra-base hits by Jonathan Engelmann. The play of the game was an out at home as Notre Dame tried to score a pinch runner from first on a double into the left field corner with 2 outs in the 8th. A perfect relay throw by Michael Brdar preserved the lead for Michigan.
Michigan's star of the day was relief pitcher Tommy Henry, who usually pitches the 7th & 8th innings when the game is close. Today, Henry came in with one out in the 5th and pitched all of the way through the 8th inning, not surrendering a hit until there were 2 out in the 8th. Henry gets the win, and Jackson Lamb gets yet another save--his 7th of the season.
Michigan hosts Bowling Green tomorrow at 4:00 before hosting Illinois for a Big Ten series this weekend. Michigan is now undefeated through 6 games of their 18-game homestand. The big series will be next Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 13-15, when they host Oklahoma.
Glad I refreshed before I posted my thread, because you beat me.
I'll provide the highlights.
Defense wins championships. Holy cow.

Especially the Brdar cutoff throw from the top of the 8th. That ND 3rd base coach really seemed to want Wenson (the catcher) kicked out for spiking the ball.
ND should be kicked out of stadiums for those ugly Kmart Christmas bulb helmets.
And for Brian Kelly's general existence.
Different sport? Who cares.

The 3rd base coach out to be mad at himself for sending someone who was so gawdawful slow. He had no chance.
Also, the relief pitcher's name is Tommy Henry.
Unless Willie Henry used that last year of eligibility :)
At least I haven't called pitcher Jack Bredeson by his little brother's name yet.
Most of the teams left on our schedule suck this year so it's important that we keep winning and take at least 1 from Oklahoma next week.
Keep it rolling boys!
GO BLUE!!
It takes BIG BALLS to play small ball. Go Blue!
This is precisely how I would like every ND post to read.
Thank you for your cooperation.
