The Shane Morris package needs to be erased from the playbook and also from everyone's memory.

You think? You should make that point more.
Personally, I have no problem with it. I just wish it worked in the most important time in the game when it was used, that's all.
I think we can all agree though that what we have to complain about offensively has come A LONG WAY since the Robinson/Gardner on the field at the same time playcalling bullshit from Al Borges in 2012.

The O line did not do a good job of run blocking, particularly in the second half. MSU's D line did far better than it had been doing, and the defensive play calls in the second half really messed up our running game, particularly on short yardage. It's a win, but after being up 27-10 at the half and looking like we were pulling away, the second half was a BIG disappointment. For once, our opponent's halftime adjustments were better than ours.

Higdon also seems to be our best runner; I'm glad he's getting the ball more. The rest? Some good plays, some clutch plays, but not enough.
Evans was unimpressive (seems like he should have sat?)
Something is off with Chesson.
I like the sweeps with Isaac, but sometimes he's got to put his head down and not go out of bounds (e.g., on his second run, on second down, where he went out before the 1st down line).
The Pepcat either needs new wrinkles or should only be run 2-3 times a game.
Good job with the win. Hopefully they'll realize they've got to go, full bore, for 60 minutes and pound the snot out of Maryland. I'm hopeful, as by biggest concern was Speight was just "OK" and, while not perfect or great, he is already a good QB.

Chesson has been very quiet this season. I almost forget he's on the roster. The passing game mainly consists of Butt and Darboh. I don't think this game should have been this close.

Sucks that Chesson has more or less disappeared this year, because he and Rudock had amazing chemistry by the end of the year last year. That being said, Butt and Darboh have been great safety valves for Speight. We're watching him grow up before our very eyes.

Speight played well today. My confidence in him grew.
Play calling was mostly excellent in the first half with a ton of well designed played that got big chunks of yards. Then the play calling became WAY too conservative in the second half. Seems like the trigger point was Speight's INT. Picking up the first down late in the fourth quarter on 3rd and 1 in our end would've allowed us to pretty much take a knee and close the game out. Very disappointed we couldn't hack out a yard when we needed it. Instead we were left to sweat a bit at the end. I still see average run blocking up front. They're pretty good in pass pro but they allow blitzers to penetrate more than I'd like to see. The OL needs to get better to win the B1G.

Our OL got blown off the ball by MSU's DL for much of the game. Not good.

Not that I think UM should abandon what's been working, and limiting guy's carries to keep them fresh and what not.
But I think Karan Higdon is Michigan's best runner. I know Smith's in there as the better pass blocker, and he's more than adequate, but in my opinion, Higdon's the best runner in UM's stable of running backs.

I like Higdon out there as well. He has the ability to hit a home run, but his shiftyness comes in handy on the shorter gains too.

Really impressed with Ben Breadeson. It's not easy being a true freshman in your 2nd start on the road in a rivalry game. I thought Ben held his own and has an extremely bright future
