My little sisters memorial service is today. She passed away Monday at the age of 29. She had secretly battled alcoholism for many years and her kidneys and liver failed. This week has been hell. Please, if you or anyone you know if battling addiction get help before it's too late.

Losing someone to addiction carries with it similar feelings of regret as when a friend or family member loses a battle with depression (I have experienced both). In addition to dealing with the loss itself is the almost unshakeable sense that something more or different could have been done.

If you have them, work hard at putting those thoughts and feeling behind you; seek counseling if you believe it will help. I have little doubt that you, your family, her friends, and even your sister herself did everything that could have been done to prevent her passing.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your sister.

and I could get excited about the weekend, but the crappiness doesn't have to do with work so it gets to follow me everywhere.
