OT- Red Wings That Are Resting

Don't know but man do we need the break. Does it seem like every game we have a lead, defense collapses and we lose it either late or in penalty shots?

USA - Rafalski
Sweden - Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Franzen, Kronwall, Holmstrom - not sure if the latter two will be playing, or if their knee injuries will keep them out (Homer's seems less serioius); I'm thinking Franzen could play.
Russia - Datsyuk
Finland - Filppula
Belarus - Sergei Kolosov (Griffins)

From watching the game yesterday it sounds like Ken Holland actually wanted as many of the Wings in the Olympics as possible. He doesn't want any of the guys "getting cold" from a long break.

More concerning are the cap concerns and how the wings will manage to get Lilja back on the roster. Brad May waived. What else? Rumors have mentioned Maltby, Eaves.

I heard they're thinking about trading Jason Williams b/c he'll be an unrestricted free agent and it's unlikely the Wings will bring him back.

Haven't all the Red Wings been resting? It sure seems like it.

I don't know why Draper and Maltby are still getting PT over some of their young talent. I appreciate all the past contributions they have provided, but I was dumbfounded when they got playing time over Abdelkader and Helm in the Cup Final last year.

This season Helm has more ice time than Draper, despite fewer games, and Abdelkader more than Maltby:
Helm, 53 GP, 800'
Draper, 59 GP, 736'
Abdelaker, 50 GP, 530'
Maltby, 51 GP, 513'
Maltby may be about to have season-ending shoulder surgery. Or, if he doesn't, if Lilja comes back, he could be put on waivers.

Midway through the 2nd period against Ottawa, they said Homer's bruised knee is bothering him, he's done for the night. Maybe a bad sign for playing in the Olympics?

Yep, Homer's out, Franzen's in.
Too bad for Homer, but good for Franzen, who needs to practice and play, not just skate on his own for two weeks.

Homer's injured again? Oh my God I'm shocked.
I just hope all the Red Wings stay healthy. I hope that neither Sweden nor Russia make it to a medal game (but that's silly since they probably will).
