First home game for an out of towner
Born and raised in Texas and have been HUGE Michigan fan since 1992ish. I will be making my first trip to the Big House this weekend and was wondering if there is anything I need to know before visiting. I would like to tailgate but dont know anyone. Good bars in the area? I'm also planning on getting up at 4 or so and going to the gameday set. Any thoughts would help me! Thanks and GO BLUE!
PS
I went to the 2005 Rose Bowl
2012 Michigan/Bama
2013 Michigan/Kansas basketball game

- Start at the Union, walk down State past all the frats (and wonder to yourself how it could be fun to chug PBR at 9 am) especially the senior frats near State and Hoover.
- Hang a right at Hoover, check out bongo man on your left. Stay until you hear your first sexually suggestive lyric directed toward an unsuspecting fan
- Get to Revelli Hall early enough to catch the marching band step off to the stadium (I believe an hour or so before kick off). Get in front of the band, and as your cross the train tracks and start to go up the hill, look back to the band and you'll see waves of fans following the band. It's a really cool view.
- Walk with the band till they hang a left before the stadium
- Enter, drink Spartan tears

on Hoover in front of Revelli Hall is usually 1.5 hrs prior to game.
Don't miss it.
Great advice above about getting in front of band and watching the crowd follow.
Awesome experince and worth leaving a tailgate early for IMO.
