Interesting. It might be because UM has such bad odds (and Harbaugh of course). Alternatively, we might just have a huge delusional alumni base. The Wolverines have also received the 5th most overall bets placed at Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook.

If there's one thing Hoke did well, it was getting his mediocre teams to play up to Ohio State. I can't imagine that will taper off with Harbaugh - at home.

Is Michigan a good straight bet to win the National Championship this year? Probably not. However, is the possibility of winning $100 for each $1 bet more enticing than taking Ohio St and only getting back $2 for each $1 bet? I can understand why people would consider taking Michigan under the circumstances.

It's a "I legitimately think Michigan will win the NC" bet, but a "let me throw a 20 on here that will turn into 2000 if something crazy happens"

than total tickets. Sports books are much more concerned when a bettor comes in places a $5,000 bet on a team than if they have 100 bets each for $50.

Actually this is not surprising at all as a bunch of $20 bettors love taking a shot on something at 100-1 odds. It's the "perfect bet" because you can bet a little to win a lot.
