The top two squads, USA - Germany, go at it in semi-finals. Hope Solo has to be her stellar self for the USA to win this match. Germany's keeper is no slouch but reminds me of Frau Blucher.

Wambach helped set up the second goal - her pass back up to whoever it was when Abby was heading down to the corner surprised the Germans and opened up the movement to the six-yard box.
Just felt the need to throw some love Ali Kreiger's way. She has got to be one of the fastest players on the field. And her amazing footwork has kept her in great position these last two games to just dominate her side of the field.
When wings are invisible in the back, that is an awesome thing. She and Klingenberg have been great. So far, MVP is Johnston, followed by Lloyd (she's scoring - cannot argue with that).
Here's my unrequested analysis:
I think the two best all around players are Rapinoe and Johnston and it is not even close. A
Lloyd would win my bronze medal as she has had bouts of greatness but also fits of really questionable play. These top three have field vision and toughness on the ball that is unrivaled. A-
Solo could be up there but hasn't been really tested much after the Australia game. Showed good leadership yesterday. Made some technical errors but didn't pay for it. A-
The other one who has impressed me has been Brian and not just yesterday. She and Johnston are future captains. A-
Yesterday, I think the others with the exception of Morgan and the subs, were solid B/ B+. They made a good Germany team look bad for most of the game. Many of these role players seem to be improving each game after coming in looking fundamentally weak.
Morgan: I know I am not in the majority, and yes I think she is very cute, but her play borders on unacceptable for the USA's top striker. When she is healthy, she is a wonderful player, but her play almost cost us in the first half yesterday. LeRoux or ROdriguez in there would have resulted in at least one goal. A very fortunate lack of red card and blown PK helped smoothover this coaching mistake IMO. C
Ellis: Yesterday was the I told you so formation game. Before it was the I told you so Wambach has no business playing more than 15 minutes game. She may win this in spite of herself. C -
