RIP Mase. That was a fun (yet frustrating) team to watch. I moved to NY in '94 and have been a Knicks fan ever since. I wasn't disappointed when he was traded for LJ, but had hoped to see him back in a Knicks jersey at some point. Always liked him.
48 is way too young.

Both my parents are older than that. Puts things in perspective.

Sad loss. Those Knicks teams weren't pretty, but with Mason and Ewing they always played tough inside.

though honestly, I've lost interest in the last 10+ years for obvious reasons. I still don't know how they ever won anything but watching a guy like Mase go up against Jordan and the Bulls was such great fun.
Everyone in NY loved Mase and still does. (Charles Smith is another story though.)

backed down from anyone.
He would have made a great Bad Boy. A lot like Rick Mahorn.

What a baller.
Anthony Mason is a New York hero. Rest in Peace. He always made us proud.
Oak, Mason, Ewing and Starks never took shit from anybody.
He was actually a really interesting guy too. Here's a great interview in which he talks about hard work and preparation, coaching, the NBA's golden years and best of all DEFENSE.

He even talks about teaching young people, especially athletes, how important it is to think about their future financial security.
I saw the dude on the street in Manhattan one day like six years ago and he was literally the biggest person I've ever seen. Poor guy. RIP Mase.
