John Beilein endorses Brady Hoke, Dave Brandon

Submitted by Cold War on

“If my sons, right now, were high school football players, I would love for them to play for Brady Hoke and this staff,” he began. “I have watched them and I am convinced and certain that they, every day, have the best intentions and care deeply for their players both on and off the (field).”

Pausing, he moved along to Brandon, his embattled boss. “I know I’m speaking for all the head coaches (at Michigan), as well, and I’m certain of this, as far as their agreement with me on this, is that Dave Brandon has had an incredibly positive impact on this athletic department,” Beilein said. “He has been a great leader and mentor to so many of us in his transition here. I think that’s what's best about what Dave has done, is how he has championed the student-athlete, their experience, and their welfare.”

experience in all of college football - especially when accompanied by your girlfriend.  Don't waste it on club seats.  If you have any  connections with the students have them pull guest tickets for you and your friend.

If you are going to see an NFL game go club.  If you are celebrating with a GF sit with the students.  It's where the action is.

My two cents.

Nice thread jack BTW.  We could use more of these hijackings given the topic of the hour.

Whoops posted automatically, but I got my girlfriend and I tickets to the a Georgia Auburn game this year. She's a HUGE Georgia fan, and I thought about getting us club tickets, but I decided on lower bowl tickets, better to watch a game down lower close to the game and the action rather than behind glass windows.

Story where Izzo commented too.

...and I saw an article yesterday where Saban supported Hoke too.

Basically the only people that seem to think Hoke should be fired for the Morris incident are people on this forum. Everyone in the media says "no way" and every coach in college athletics too. Heck, even all the alums I talk to in person say that.

No one is happy with the on the field performance, but to imply that he needs to be fired for the Morris situation is just people reaching for a reason.

I have no issues with people saying Hoke needs to go based on the teams performance, because let's face it, it's terrible.

However, if that's the reason people want him gone, let's just say it. Don't muddy the waters and pretend like its because of the Morris incident. Firing on the grounds of the Morris incident will never materialize and it just makes the fan base look bad, because it's not the best course of action to make things safer for the players (UM is actually doing a good job to address the safety by putting someone in the both). If the vocal crowd really wanted safety, they would push for process changes that make it safer. If they really want the coach fired for performance, say that, because that's much harder to deny than fault with the Morris incident.

No doubt that Hoke is a solid human being.

The press release was a joke. A lot of contradictions. However, he hasn't exhibited the ability to coach himself out of a paper bag.

To me, when he's faced with 2 choices: 1. admit something humiliating or damaging or 2. lie, Coach Hoke seems to choose the latter more often than not.  I don't hold people that lie to me regularly as a person of high character.

Maybe we've come to the point where the lies about lies are just getting too conflicting?

Do you really believe that there is language in John Beilein's UM contract that requires him to make public expressions of support for his coaching colleagues or his boss?

Apply another layer of tinfoil.

Do any of these people understand life outside of the "student" athlete?

I'm sorry but being a "student" athlete at Michigan is a joke compared to a regular student...

JUST STOP...

sigh...

Forget it.

Why post this? Does anyone really expect someone within the Michigan program is going to not endorse DB or BH?  What is the play here?  Even if coach B did not endorse the two stooges he certainly would not say so.

He's from a generation of coaches that really doesn't exist anymore.  Even if JB was not a great coach I'd love for my son to play for him just because I think spending time in JB's tutelage would make him a better person.
