Is it unreasonable to expect them to not be able to go 11-1 every year? That is extremely difficult as it is and would be even more diffficult if we go back to the big ten of old. I'm not saying har har little brother will go 4-8 every year. Good teams can go 9-3 with hard schedules. Iowa used to be really good. Purdue used to be really good and they both couldn't sustain it. It will be especially hard now that they are placed in a division with 3 mammoth programs.

The real question is whether anyone up there in EL will recognize the spelling ("acurate") and syntax errors in the "theses" Mark "Luther" Dantonio apparently nailed to the football room door. "Whereas beyond this door lie . . "?

"Whereas" usually introduces a conditional phrase, as in "because of the fact that the MSU Spartans lie behind this door, you better watch out," or some such. Instead we get the incomplete "Whereas behind this door lie the Spartans of MSU," . . . yeah, then what?

But anyway, I guess I do agree with that "thorn in the side" part. Sigh. .

Am I missing something about MSU?  Yeah, I know they could beat us again, especially if UM doesn't get its shit together, but aren't they only returning like 4 defensive starters?  Their offense might improve a bit but their offense was meh anyway and depended a lot on the defense.  If their defense is top 5 again I will personally find a way to get Narduzzi removed, but I think Michigan has an edge in talent, and if Nuss is worth half his contract they should have a decent year.

The general consensus from my State friends is that their defense will take a step back in losing some excellent players. Narduzzi will have the ones that are there ready to fill in adequately, but you can't repeat what they did last year. However, their offense will probably be much better. Cook & Langford have more experience and the WRs are pretty much in tact (minus Fowler) from last year. They return a lot of experience on the OL, because they rotated a lot of players through last year. If they give up a couple of points more per game and score a couple of more per game, it could equal out.

That being said, everything went right for them to have the season they did last year. Many games (inc OSU and Stanford) were decided by one or two plays. That is the way football is.

I see losses to Oregon, OSU, and a game or 2 more. (Hopefully one of those is to us.) A good season, but not Nat Champ/Rose Bowl level like last year.
