Quite a mercenary move.  The OSU AD is not highly regarded like the UM AD in many ways - and that says nothing about his supposed love of what UM stands for and the AA lifestyle.

The guy is definitely not a dude anymore. Just a guy who passed thru AA. Onward.

The last time Mattison left for a DC position was before the 1997 season when he went to ND.  You do vaguely recall what happened that year...right?

A 69 year old coach left to coach a rivals defense.  Would you not rather keep a younger up and coming coach instead who will have an impact for more than a couple of years?  I would....

I knew there'd be people who think this is okay, because after all it's always been part of a certain type of Michigan fan's pose to act like we're all above this childish rivalry thing and can take a mature, serious view on things.

Also, people who compare this to the normal world. This actually isn't normal in the real world either. When companies have rivals, as some do, it is far from normal and almost guaranteed to create bad blood and major irritations if important employees move to that rival. That's why there's still non compete clauses in spite of their questionable nature. Hell, I don't have a non-compete clause but if I decided to take a job with my employer's fiercest competitor, I'd be persona non grata to the folks at my current employer pretty instantly.

So what I'm saying is that this certainly makes me dislike Greg "Judas" Mattison quite a bit. Dude is basically dead to me, regardless of how much of an impact this makes in terms of actual results.

Crazy gut punch.  Would have thought this was unthinkable, but I clearly know nothing.  Hope we find a great replacement. I really liked having Coach Mattison here.  They must be paying him a boatload of cash.

Based on the way our D-line played against OSU (zero sacks, hurries, or even moderate whispers in the ear of Haskins), one might think Mattison received this offer a bit earlier than now.

I knew Greg Mattison from his first stint at Michigan.  Nice guy.  Then left for ND.  Happy when Brady brought him back.

I simply cannot fathom why he would go to Ohio State  Close to retirement.  Just ruined any legacy he might have earned at the University of Michigan and that’s a shame.

i perused a couple of osu forums and they are OBSESSED with Michigan and yet we can’t beat them.  Amazing and sad for them to have so much hate.
