OT: How understanding is your significant other about watching UM games?

Submitted by MGoStrength on October 31st, 2018 at 7:51 PM

I'm 39 years old & engaged to a wonderful 29 year old lady.  We have been together 4 years.  She says she appreciates my love for UM football and has become a fan as well since dating me.  I've taken her to 3 games in person.  However, every season my desire to watch games has caused a number of fights when it conflicts with something she wants to do.  She doesn't want her entire fall revolving around a 3hr game every Saturday.  So, for those of you that are married or in a long term relationship I'm curious how understanding your significant other is of your desire to watch UM games.

1. How old are you and what is your gender?

2. On average how many UM football games do you watch each year?

3. Does your significant other give you grief about it or are they cool with it?

64 male.  U of M graduate 1977.

wife is also a u of m graduate in 1977 and grew up in Ann Arbor.  My grandparents, mother, father, both sisters, uncles, aunts, brother in laws, etc. etc etc all graduated from Michigan.  I watch every cotton picking game.  Missed one for a funeral this year.

She understands the obsession.  But I watch in the basement, in the dark with the sound off, which she thinks is weird.  No radio either.  I am a few years away from not watching the game at all as I increasingly can’t stand the tension.  First grandchild  was born this year and I’m beginning to put things in perspective.  Finally.

1. male, older than most, younger than some on the board.  married for more than 50% of those years.  Had a Michigan drivers license while in college but really didn't live there.  A brother and a son both went to Michigan.  I probably could've been a long time fan but I'm a relatively late to the bandwagon kind of guy.  To me Harbaugh was a Bears QB.

2. most but not necessarily all.  DVR most just in case (note, AT&T Uverse guide currently has Saturday's game scheduled to run from 3:45 to 4:45 - had to put in a manual recording).

3. little bit of grief as I veg out for hours, but not really complaints about watching Michigan.  Things happen so sometimes we do other things when there is a game going on.  Love smartphones.  In the past even had the wireless TV service on Verizon's LG Voyager phone to keep up with game while watching kids' marching band competitions.  After having gone to a few poor weather games, (OK it was the Northwestern game) she usually prefers shopping to going to the Big House when we go up to Ann Arbor.  Over time, you just learn to focus on what's important and support each other.

I'm 55.

I watch every one of them.

My wife often watches them with me, wearing her Michigan shirt, enjoys the games, and cheers as loudly as I do on great Michigan plays.

She is awesome!

55 male, wife 44. I watch every game I can. She is an OSU fan. I have been a UM fan for 49 years. She knows my love of college football so no grief whatsoever. She even buys me Wolverine goodies. I do live in Ohio. Love my state but I hate  the OSU buckeyes with a passion that cant be properly put into words. Trust me, as you people know they are absolutely the worst fanbase ever. Wife excluded, cause she is the wife

I am mid 30s male. My wife a couple years older. She is a M alum who’s freshman year was 1997 and she attended every home football game and most hockey games. Our first ever conversation (met at a party she threw in her condo) was about the fact that she only had one thing on her fridge: a Michigan football schedule magnet. She said she always wanted to go back to a game but her gfs never wanted to. I took her 3 weeks later.

I proposed at the Big House (not during a game, we had the place to ourselves at sunset)

since then we attend nearly every home game (miss maybe 1 a year) have been to Dallas, Miami, and East Lansing to watch games.

Grief?? Bwa hahahaha she loves Michigan football!

Hello to all yall! I have no significant other, unfortunately. But I would like to find it. Maybe I should start to use dating websites. Sometimes I just want to find a hot chick for good sex, but sometimes I'm a kind of romantic, haha. I hope that https://www.hellohotties.com/ will help me with that.
