Clemson QB Kelly Bryant to transfer

Following up the trend from Monday of true seniors redshirting after 4 games and transferring, Clemson QB Kelly Bryant just announced he's redshirting and transferring out of the program.

Bryant started the first 4 games this year but split time with true freshman Trevor Lawrence each game. Lawrence outplayed Bryant statistically and was announced to be the started for the upcoming game earlier this week. This is a big blow to Clemson as Bryant probably would have played moving forward in the same split-time system and now Clemson only has one other scholarship QB on roster.

Bryant will probably be the hottest transfer commodity out there. He started for Clemson all last year as they made the playoffs and he will be immediately eligible next year.

Finally, we are at a spot with depth of QBs that we dont need this guy.  Even if Peters transfers this off season i would expect JH will stand pat with the guys he has.  Bright future for them.

Weird that Kelley announces this mid season.

I'm still surprised that Jim has brought in so many tranfers. I was under the impression that he could coach up at least one 4* QB recruit to be a serviceable starter in 3 years. Sure, Shea is pretty good but I would have preferred to see a guy who actually signed on with UM out of HS show significant development and get the job.

Good on these kids, they should be able to transfer and hopefully reach there ultimate goal playing in the NFL.  Come to UofM he can compete, not sure if he would start over Shea if he stays or Dylan but more competition is always better.  I think he will go to LSU or somewhere like that.

Dont know if this has already been explained...but if he has already graduated, can he join a squad mid-season and play this year? That would be interesting, especially if a top team loses a QB and can fall back on Bryant.

Dabo Sweeny isn't as good as keeping QBs around as Nick Saban. Jalen Hurts should have also transferred, if he wants to be a QB---with his speed, he should switch to TE. But Hurts stays at Alabama because Nick Saban is good at the coaching game.
