OT-Michigan Stadium Needs Team Members
MIchigan Stadium needs team members for the upcoming year. This would be a great way to watch the game for those of you who do not have season tickets! They are looking for the following positions:
Ticket Takers
Ushers
Tower Attendants
Response Team Members
Guest Service Attendants

I believe there's at least one opening for a side-line position as a back-up QB.
perhaps they can take volunteers to sit in the upper part of the student section.
I did it for a few years while I was a studend and couldn't afford tickets. The pay is atrocioius and gamedays start 3 hours before kickoff, but it's a way to be in the Stadium. The ushering job in the student section was both fun and obnoxious, though I can see it being a lot less of a hassle with general admission seating. So many whiny first year girls crying about someone in their seat.
You get paid according to how much of the game you get to watch. Ushers and ticket takers - you get little and like it - you get to watch most of the game. Other folks who don't get to watch get paid hourly, but don't quit your day job.
Also they've been giving us lunch the past few years, so that's a bonus - if you get to the food before it's gone.
Was the food any better the last two years? My last season was 2010, and at that point, it still seemed like the food they were giving us was the stale leftovers from the week before.
People complained about it and they did step up the food offerings. It's not great but it's OK. Beats paying through the nose for food at the stands.
First, yes please, consider joining the staff. Being understaffed sucks.
Tower attendants and ( I think ) guest services people get paid hourly.
Also don't think you're going to just hang out and watch the game. You will be asked to , you know, work and stuff. There is a dress code. You're only allowed to miss 1 game/year, so no calling in sick for the less-than-exciting opponents. You're expected to be at the stadium well before kickoff and you'll probably be standing all day. And think about what you may have to deal with - unruly / drunk fans - it's not always fun.
Having said that - I've only missed 1 or 2 home games in the past decade, made a few dollars and got some free meals to boot. Beats paying for tickets !
PS getting on the staff will offer opportunities for other sporting events, the spring game, commencements, etc.
Not going?
I spent several seasons at a different school doing just those things -- traffic control, parking lot surveillance, anything to earn a buck. Pay at that time was $3.15/hour. I was grateful for every penny, for I paid for college and lived off whatever scraps I could get.
To be honest? I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. I had a great relationship with my other crew members, the days were long, hard ... and very rewarding. It felt great earning pay for hard work performed.
I'd recommend it for anyone who's young, energentic and understands the value of hard work for honest pay.
"Tower attendant?" Is that anything like an SEC "recruiting hostess?"
Is the job availible to incoming freshmen? Since I am one, and I just applied. To be honest, I don't care what sport it is. Any job is better than no job, and one with the opportunity to be around Michigan sports is the best job I can think of.
