OT: Walking Dead 9 pm, Game of Thrones 10 pm Open Thread- Spoilers at those times.
I highly recommend the book. The pace and the intriguing and moving stories makes for a really good and quick read.
Holy fuck.

My emotions about her are based on the show so all I have to say is good riddance you annoying bitch.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the comics, and I don't really like what happened tonight either.
Kirkman said that the comics and the show are two completely different entities. I kind of figured Andrea was going to die because she was pretty well hated. I just think that the whole last episode was kind of rushed. I think that they could have cut out a previous episode and expanded the whole prison attack.
I'm also pretty disappointed that Lilly wasn't even present.
I'll have to watch this episode over again but I feel like the parts that shouldn't have been drawn out (Milton/Andrea) were, and the parts that should have been drawn out (The Governer/The Prison) weren't.
The only redeeming quality was Carl, surprisingly.

It should have been 2 hours. The Governer really needs to get his. Carl should give it to him, and they had it set up perfectly - like a lob alley-oop slam dunk from Trey. When the Governer wasn't in the town, I thought for sure we were going to get Carl vs Gov. to protect the rest.

Just finished the opening sequence of GoT, so hopefully some others are on board!
Decent finish to TWD. Interesting turns abound.

The Walking Dead cast is feeling a bit bloated at this point. I expected more attrition.

The show was pretty good IME. This episode was pretty slow though for how they had is built up. I am a sucker for zombies though, so it would have to be pretty bad for me to hate it.

I couldn't agree more Charlie Day. This show has gone the way of Heroes of building up for ten episodes to have an underwhelming finale. I'm done with this show. I'll wait until my buddies review to decide. The plus side of watching the show after it's finished is avoiding 30 hours of commercials.

Ugh I wish heroes was back, and by back I mean just season 1.

Mad Men returns next Sunday and is always worth the time. The Americans is fairly good but it's rather far into the season, but i'm sure they have episodes OnDemand if you have that feature.

Someone maybe do me a favor? I just finished reading Storm of Swords and haven't seen any of the show other than a couple YouTube clips. (Don't have HBO, don't plan on getting it, and I'm waiting til the fall to get the Blu-Rays.) What did they end the second season with?
March 31st, 2013 at 10:27 PM ^
Battle of Blackwater (Ep9), Dany reclaiming her dragons, Bran and Rickon leaving Winterfell, Robb marrying the medic, and white walkers appearing (Ep10)
March 31st, 2013 at 10:33 PM ^
Hmmm....it ain't a medic in the book. And Brienne is marching Jaime along, yes? (Tom Long made reference to that.) I gather they went a fair ways into book 3 at the end of season 2. I ask cause I want to follow along and not accidentally blab at the same time. I know this is supposed to only be the first half of book 3, but I'll be awfully interested to find out where they actually stop.

I know we see the RW and maybe PW...
I think it depends on how much dany and jon are part of this season...

The RW seems like the perfect way to end the season, but if so then this season would be quite a bit more than just half the book. Although they did nudge Barristan Selmy a long way forward in the storyline. It would've been too hard to keep him disguised all the way through.
I can't imagine we won't see quite a bit of Jon in both seasons three and four, it seems like there's more of him in this book than anyone else.
They can't end on the RW because so many people have described shock to the point of putting the book down after reading that chapter... with that in mind I think they will move it up a little so that other story lines draw peopl back the next week. I think it would be a risk to end with that scene because people may not come back...
I believe RW will be episode 7 or 8 and PW will be either 10 or 1 of next year...
I must be really weird because I felt the same way for about a day... then I finished the book in the next two. Couldn't stop after that. This is a series pretty well known for taking unconventional risks, of course, which the first book/season was a testament to. But I think the book offers the perfect way to draw people back even without the other storylines.
March 31st, 2013 at 10:39 PM ^
Yes, season 2 went into book 3 a bit.
Robb married a women (in secret) who was working on the fields as a medic (sawing off legs in the battlefields) but had some more nobel upbringing. Apologies for not following the details of that too well.
Yes, Brienne and Jamie ended the second season marching along.
This episode thus far has brought Robb to Harrenhal, Tyrion get lambasted by his father for basically being an embarrassing imp that killed his mother. And we just found out that Davos survived. And Jon Snow met Mance Ryder. That's about where we're at.
I'm going to be in a tough decision this summer: I'm 1/4 of the way through the second book but since this season is adapting approx the first half of Storm of Swords, I'll have to decide if I want to surpass the TV series or not...

Yea it's a bit of a shot at diehard fans upset with book deviations.
But they're being kind of silly.
*Possible Spoilers of source materials*
I don't freak out that they didn't cut off Rick's hand because it causes way more problems on a live action set than it does in a drawn comic (unless you're just an occassional character), and likewise, taking your award winning best actor and having to computer erase his nose everyepisode so that's all people look at doesn't seem dollar or drama smart.
March 31st, 2013 at 10:34 PM ^
I think as the show goes on it gets harder and harder to adhere to the books... I wonder how they will keep it together...
I did like the intro of tormund though (one of my favorite characters) and Bronn the badass...

Carl killed one guy with one bullet. The rest of the group kill zero with 6,000 bullets.
