I've started to notice a trend about this whole situation. Everyone who is actually familiar with college athletics is defending Rodriguez.

Dicky V's stock actually went up.
It's been sliding/steady for ages.

WHERE'S ALL THE SHOUTING, BABEEEEEEY? If he'd speak as he writes, I might actually listen to him on TV. A well thought-out article (at least to this homer).

Actually, I cannot think of one major name player, analyst or sports figure who has come out against Michigan on this. Just the forgettable names. Kind of makes you proud to be a Wolverine.

Having read that, I think I'll be able to tolerate him next season.

I'm very critical of the ESPN monopoly of sporting news and their constant bending it to fit an agenda (just like any other news media outlet), but I can definitely get behind this. I watched Michigan stun #2 Duke in basketball and saw no coverage on SportsCenter of that game for over an hour and a half. It pissed me off at ESPN and at "Dicky V", who is constantly all over only Duke and UNC.
With that said, he has totally redeemed himself with this article.

I met Dicky V down in Florida one Spring Break - sat down and talked to him for a few minutes. He is one of the nicest people I have ever met. He is down to earth and is definitely not the spaz he seems to be on TV. Nice article - doesn't surprise me.

"Come back to me when you have complaints about schools buying players, getting cash and clothing, kids cheating on tests.
Give me a break, criticizing an athlete for sweating, working hard, spending time to perform at a higher level! That is a joke!"

Vitale is as passionate about sports as it gets. One of the great benefits of his passion is that he always finds time to "do his homework" instead of taking the lazy way out like so many in the MSM do.
Those of us who are old enough to remember the unbelievable resurrection job Vitale did at UD are not surprised by his defense of a coach who works as hard as RR does.
It's great to see another positive article to help balance the crap that's been out there lately.

Vitale did a nice job writing this article. Nice to hear some of the more notable media members calling out "Rosie".

I definitely got a lot of respect for Vitale after reading that.
