Bravo Roumel!

A highlight of Michigan Football Saturdays was always reading Punt/C-Punt--thank you to MGoBlog for posting this!  Roumel, for us political junkies that are totally struggling with scheduling for the Last College Football Saturday Before the Elections, you gave us a comedic fix.  Go Blue!

Specifically said that unless you are a fifth-year senior, you have no idea what the last few years were about. There was not one person that dared even make a noise at that point of the speech, because no one-not fan, nor former player, nor "Legend"-could question his experiences, and we were all taken to task. The collective "Michigan" had put themselves before the needs of 132, and it was a remainder of what the focus of college athletics should truly be.

Right with you! I love Cherry Coke, and the mix-up derailed my whole train of thought.

If it WERE a Japanese name, then 'he' would be a 'she'.

BINGO! BANGO!

We have a winner.

Correction: the tix from UM

Correction: the tix from UM ticket dept. were in the mailbox since Saturday...guess I should have checked.

I, too, was worried about

I, too, was worried about this.  So I emailed UM Ticket Office 7-10 days ago (deleted the email so I don't have the exact timeframe) about this issue of ordering NW tickets with my UM season tickets.  They responded that those tickets have not been mailed out yet and it is not unusual that I would receive them a week or two before the game.

I, for one, concede no

I, for one, concede no "bragging rights until 10/9/10"; the Aggies got nothing on us.

Hockey HOF is awesome,

Hockey HOF is awesome, although maybe not so much for an anniversary. Little Italy section is very nice, as well, and TO has one of the best Greek districts in N. America ("The Danforth") for some great food.

No need to "get over it"

No need to "get over it" until we see the Redskins lose to BC at Ford Field. Join me in my maize and blue as I cheer the lines: For Boston, for Boston, We sing our proud refrain!
(Yes it makes me sick, but it's all I got right now.)

couldn't they have used those

couldn't they have used those beautiful boards to at least show us scores from other Regions? Or some stats at the intermissions?

I bought 2 for Saturday only,

I bought 2 for Saturday only, through Ticketmaster, and it was like $111 all-inclusive. And I saw on MGoBlue.com that weekend passes were $87. I don't think you'll find better deals for major tournements or sporting events.

Liquored-up Miami fans

I found a lot of general nastiness from the Redskin fans, at least in the concourse (I was in the UAH section, for whatever reason, so didn't have problems in the stands). It also didn't help that liquor was sold in "lounges" around the arena, and the MU fans were getting well-sauced while watching NCAA hoops. I'm not obnoxious (except in the stands, while watching the game) but I did fear things escalating...there is a lot of hate out their by the 'Skins fans against us. Not that I care, it's just funny considering their incredible lack of championship hockey over the last 60 years.

The play happened right in

The play happened right in front of me, and I saw it the same way: Lynch deserved 2 minutes, and it was stupid a stupid penalty.

Munn

After 15 years of watching UM Hockey at Yost, I FINALLY took a road trip to MSU for Friday's game. I recommend that every UM fan make the trip once. The place was empty and crowd anemic (as has been mentioned previously), but even at its finest green-and-white hour, I think the overall crappiness of the hockey environment at Munn would make us all appreciate Yost and our own program much more. GO BLUE.

Basically, Internet Guy, you

Basically, Internet Guy, you just pointed to the endzone and chanted "Scoreboard". I think you are exactly right. I understand people having problems with this coach or that coach, but I just can't take it seriously when any True Blue would have any problems with Miles's results. Jeez, we'd be creaming our shorts for the International Bowl this year.

I had wanted Miles, but after we signed RR I committed to not looking back. I just won't accept someone saying we are better off without Miles, because I haven't seen the guy do anything with LSU that we wouldn't be proud of in Ann Arbor.

"immature"? Quite unlike

"immature"? Quite unlike comparing an OSU diploma with a handicap parking validation, eh? I really don't care, mind you, but the selective "calling out" on this site used to drive me nuts (and now just makes me laugh).

I think it would be nice to

I think it would be nice to take a Yost-like approach: photos of key players over the years displayed in a concourse area. Yost has A LOT of players and coaches, and it doesn't diminish the team concept nor does it cheapen our tradition--if anything it creates a 'living museum' to UM Hockey within Yost. I prefer this to any number of 'retired' jerseys or names & years of All-Americans, etc., painted in the bowl or on the suites.

Lambeau looks so small! Cute

Lambeau looks so small! Cute stadium; glad we play in the Big House.

After attending the game, I

After attending the game, I was left with an appreciation for the hustle our team put in. Quite a few Wolverines were buzzing tonight--Hagelin, Vaughan, Rust, Lynch, Brown...a whole lot of guys racing around the ice. Some of the goals were lucky-ish, but it was great to get some bounces go our way. This was a HUGE improvement over last Friday against BGSU. Looking forward to the Badgers tomorrow.

I don't remember seeing guys

I don't remember seeing guys go for the "sweet play", but I do remember a lack of offensive moving-of-the-ass and all time terrible penalty killing. I hope they get their shit together soon or else I'm going to be begging for football season to come around and take away the sting of hockey. (Wow, that would be bizarro world)

I always remember an echo at

I always remember an echo at Michigan Stadium; actually, I think that the addition of the skyboxes had minimized it. New soundsystem would be wonderful.

Kudos Section 1.

Great post, Section 1. It's for information like this that I read mgoblog.

Let's hope for seas of maize next year. (Don't worry, people will still find other things to freak out about.)

Bivouac is carrying some UM

Bivouac is carrying some UM shirts now--higher end stuff.

Hopefully, if it's named "the

Hopefully, if it's named "the 5-win season," it will be unique and never be repeated again! I'll leave the rest of you hipsters to come up with a cute name.

Yeah, "much worse." I felt

Yeah, "much worse." I felt that OSU was sticking to a slow-and-steady game plan and that they were capable of doing a lot more damage. I expected them to open it up and and take it to us. Our D impressed me because I thought it could be much worse. What I learned after PSU, Illinois, Purdue and Wisconsin is that our Defense can be torched. I guess that's not the lesson you took out of this season.

Nuck, I envy you. I'm glad

Nuck, I envy you. I'm glad you took so much positive out of today. Maybe I'll be there in a day, a week, a month. After watching the first half, I thought it would be much worse, so I will give credit for that. It was not our worst performance of the year, and I can't say that a full effort wasn't given. It must be really hard to be a player right now, because it ain't easy being a fan. I just can't get over the fact that our only conference win was against Indiana.

There's no way anyone can

There's no way anyone can fault our QBs, but they are excellent examples of why freshmen QBs should not be thrown into the starting lineup. Of course there wasn't much alternative for this season. It's just been so difficult to watch, even if our QB play was far improved from last year.

Please tell this Detroit boy:

Please tell this Detroit boy: what is it like growing up in a city that has an NFL-caliber team?

I shudder at the thought of

I shudder at the thought of this season without Graham and Mesko, at the least. A very solid class that will definitely be missed.

Well then we had better start

Well then we had better start winning more than one conference game per season.

I think we all looked so

I think we all looked so pathetically defeated that it wasn't much fun for the OSU faithful to pile on, at least in my section.

The only thing amazing to me

The only thing amazing to me is that so many people are SHOCKED and AMAZED that rules of economics apply to Michigan football games. When you feel less-than-enthused by the prospects of your team (the team you pay $125 - $500 per seat license PLUS ticket price) actually giving you enjoyment, your selling price will come down, thus making more tickets 'available' for resale. Yes, I used to get upset as a student when my friends would sell the OSU ticket and pay for their whole damn season's worth of tickets, but I understood it.

This was a game that i could not GIVE a ticket away to. No joke. I used up two seats, the whole time envying my cousin that got $500 for the pair of 10th row seats he sold. I enjoyed the $20 I spent on a 1/2 gal of sangria after the game more than any damn aspect of today's $130 investment of a game.

Expect much more red, and green, and scarlet in the years to come. I wonder what the season ticket renewal rate will be this year. I don't expect that we will stop having 100k plus attendances if for the only reason that opponent's fans will flock to our stadium to watch their team have a chance of kicking our ass.

That said, I will never sell tickets to opponent fans (actually I give them away to friends when I can't attend) or on websites. I will always keep my season tickets. But a lot of people need to come down from their perch and recognize the realities of our Michigan universe. (Especially with a state unemployment rate of 15%.)

And o-h-i-o was very loud, but not as embarrassing as what Michigan football has been for 2 years.

Kudos to Oregon--watching

Kudos to Oregon--watching them click on all cylinders is amazing. I felt a twinge of hope at a RichRod-led UM offense after watching the OU-USC game.

But as much as I've enjoyed watching "Duckball" this season, I cannot get over how ridiculous the OU football 'tradition' is. I'm sorry, maybe it's the UM snobbery or something. But they ARE "the ducks", whose mascot was a not-so-subtle play on Donald Duck, whose fans blow duck calls, whose colors are those awful yellow-and-green (and if they weren't AWFUL why else would they use grey, day-glo yellow, black, and any other colors to dilute the crappiness of the colors?), who've produced like one decent NFL player, who have "duckprints" etched onto their shoulder pads.

I hate to be negative on such a fun team, but out of all the college programs out there Oregon makes me chuckle the most. Even if they are the loudest group of 30,000 (or whatever) fans any duck could ever hope for.

I wish Big 11 would follow

I wish Big 11 would follow the Pac10's lead and play full conference schedule. Forever to remain a wish, to be sure.

Isn't that what we do here?

Isn't that what we do here? "re-live"? May as well hear it straight from the Captain of our sinking ship.

I'd like to hear him discuss what he sees on all that damned "film"; I'd like him to summarize all the film that he's watched this year and tell us what he's tried to implement to counter that film and in which ways the film of future games should not mimic past films.

It won't be popular here, but

It won't be popular here, but I STILL say all B10 teams drop ND from schedules unless they join. Let ND do home-and-homes with ACC opponents and see if that helps them.

I love hating ND, and UM-ND is usually a good game, but we could do just as well finding other top programs to do home-and-homes with (even in this day and age) and still send the message to ND that they need to join the B10.

And, no, I don't think they ever will join B10. And, yes, I realize we have a contract good for the next 100 years to play ND. But I'll still whine about it.

I can't say that this is the

I can't say that this is the one game I would change, however, it is the first game that made me cry (so far as I can remember). The pain and injustice of that kick brought me to tears as I sat in my bedroom-- I was 10 years old, and M football had taken root.

Thanks for mentioning this one. I thought about it as I was out in Iowa City 2 weeks ago.

GameDay set up in the

GameDay set up in the Concourse, Main/Stadium corner, was the WORST! It was impossible to walk anywhere near the south side of the stadium that day. And I think it was a security risk as well--seems like the crowd was much rowdier there than when I saw the setup on Keech and on the golf course (GC was the best set-up IMO).

I know this is all fun and

I know this is all fun and games, but does anybody really get worked up about this yet? There is a lot of season left.

Don't forget the six glorious

Don't forget the six glorious Big Ten Titles that MSU has claimed. Take THAT Illinios...errr...Iowa...errr...INDIANA!

Not so fast my friend: how

Not so fast my friend: how can you really cite wikipedia? There is no attributed authorship on the site. I wonder what the legal status of that information is.

but i agree it defeats the spirit of this site to pass the info off as your own.

Party action?

To quote Captain, "Michigan State hadn't beaten Michigan twice in a row for 42 years. I count my chickens after they hatch."

don't you mean "Brabbs made

don't you mean "Brabbs made the kick and all heaven broke lose so it was well worth it"?

Why do idiots continue to

Why do idiots continue to schedule weddings on Michigan Saturdays? Have they no respect for worship?

errrr...500--it's not YOUR wedding, is it?

OT: Dorm food

I bet East Quad food STILL sucks.

C'mon, man, let it go! We

C'mon, man, let it go! We all murder from time to time, right?

Watching the game at Kinnick

that damn announcer (who sounded hilariously similar to "Big Gay Al" of South Park) would announce Minor's run before the man even stopped running--the somersault play was but one of THREE PLAYS that he did this. It was, I thought, insulting.

The somersault play was amazing and should have gotten mad time on stupid sports shows. I have been able to stay away from all college football "wrap-up" shows since getting in from Iowa (Fucking) City two hours ago.

Wish I'd have known

I'm here in the Cedar Rapids Crown Plaza, the pre-game home of the Hawkeyes. I wish I had the guts to do something last night--pull fire alarm, call the player's rooms--to make their stay less than satisfactory, now that I've heard TForce had been harrassed.

OT: I think I was drinking next to BTN's Pizzo guy last night. He was the only guy in this dump with a $1000 watch and a posh blazer.
