earlier today and was going to post it, but did not out of fear of creating a duplicate topic and the virtual reaming that follows. Not that said reaming wouldn't be enjoyable, of course.
Thank you for sharing it.

I think it's cool that they were playing for the player. Is this some kind of tradition?

The players never get to see the MMB do pre-game, half-time or post game, so the band performs pre- and post- games for them every year, a few days before the first game. Then, various parties give speeches and the band members get a second or two to meet players and sometimes free stuff. This year, they all got an All-In towel from Rich Rod.

looks like they've spent some time with Barwis. Did you see all those high knees at the beginning?

Many MMB members play in the MMB 7-on-7 flag football league--last year the trombone-drumline game got pretty violent and some people had to sit out marching for a while because of football injuries.

Our new drum major is pretty quick and could step up to the plate. He's been a staple of the euph team for the past two years.

I expect everyone will be suprised what a difference the skyboxes make. We were getting some tremendous echoes off them, especially from the M Fanfare. This makes me very optimistic for the crowd noise increase we are all hoping for. Not to mention, they look freaking awesome.

I've told this story to more than a few people:
At graduation, one of the speakers made a joke. I was around row 5 - I heard the echo of the students laughing high in the bowl, before I heard them laughing from behind me. It defies physics, but it happened.
The stadium acoustics are going to be so improved.

I think I read in the Daily about 2-3 years ago when they were talking about the band playing for the team and how the drum major said the band was just as important as the other members on the football team.

They are, they work so hard, I love the MMB.

Band was at Convocation tonight. Sounded very, very good, but they only played the Yellow and the Blue, not The Victors or Temptation or anything like that. Still, though...

I really wish there was a new high-quality video up on YouTube of the entrance, because the MMB messed up the fold-out before Fanfare (which I've never seen them do before). It kinda stinks that the one time that they really mess up is the one that ends up on YouTube. Still always gets me a little misty-eyed at the beginning of the season, though...

Yeah, that was a combination of a poorly-timed signal from our new director and a drummer's misinterpretation. Suffice it to say that we've learned from our mistake.
