You thought I was recommending Schlitz in anything but jest? Has anyone ever suggested Schlitz seriously?

No, in all honesty, if it's hot (though rumor has it we'll be getting a bit o' cooling rain), the way to go would definitely be Goose Island 312. There is no better hot afternoon beer.

And raise you Weihenstephan Helles.

... sort of. It was Schlitz Ice.
I was a poor college student once. I cringe at the thought of some of the beers that I have cycled through.

Hey now, don't say "stuck in AA" like it's a bad thing. I have a feeling Ann Arbor will be rockin for the game Saturday night.

If you were at BOX house like in your pic then I know you know how to party. I miss that place.

I am going to puke all over myself Saturday. So hard.

Maybe the 20th-best brewer in Oregon.
Better choices include:
-- Hair of the Dog
-- Cascade
-- Deschutes
-- Boneyard
-- Ninkasi
-- Lompoc
-- Bridgeport
-- Hopworks
-- Lucky Labrador
-- Rock Bottom
-- Upright
-- Logsdon
-- 10 Barrel
They are better than Widmer and McMenamin's, though.

I really love the Pitch Black IPA. Can't speak to their other offerings

To make really nice stuff sometimes. I enjoyed the Galaxy Barleywine a lot. But their year-round shelf offerings are really not good, especially outside of the Hefeweizen. They're better than Gordon Biersch, but that's about it.

Double Dead Guy is very nice

As a huge supporter of Michigan beer, I vote for anything from Founders, Bell's, New Holland, etc. Two Hearted has a special place in my liver.
Also, unless you're getting this keg from an on-campus source that keeps these things in stock, you're going to want to order it ASAP (like, today). Most places need a couple or three days to get a keg in the door.

This is good to hear. I've been wondering if Bear Republic stuff was worth trying or not. I'll take this as a yes.

The cost doesn't bother me. Crappy beer does.

Good stuff, indeed. I have a small love affair with Lagunitas. I wish more of the breweries out there (like Russian River) distributed to Michigan. I'd kill to try some Pliny the Elder.

Wolverine Beer http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/wolverine-beer/95910/
Or anything from Wolverine State in AA.
Otherwise, I would go with Two Hearted Ale by Bells.

Some Michigan delegates at the RNC are wearing maize and blue jerseys. (no political opinion here, just pointing it out in OT thread)

How about some Jewbelation fourteen from He'Brew...14 malts 14 hops and 14%...if you like good beer and want to get smashed
August 28th, 2012 at 5:03 PM ^
They've got a special going for $50 for a 1/6 barrel or $99 for a 1/2. Drifter Pale is a fine session beer.

Anyone know why ABC refuses to distribute Jackhammer very widely? I'd be a buyer at most any price!
I have the same question about Arcadia Whitsun, though it's less pressing.
August 28th, 2012 at 6:17 PM ^
I don't know, but any evening that started out with dinner and being cut-off from Jackhammers at Arbor turned out to be a hazy, blurry evening celebrated with horrific headaches +/- vomit the next morning.
It's a very good beer...but some bad fuzzy memories associated with it.

Lemonade. Really mess with everyone when they think you just stored your pee for the past month to make you tougher, like the team needs to be against Alabama! WOOOOO!!! GO BLUE!!!!!

Germans are such good beer drinkers because they train by drinking ram's piss

Bell's Oarsman.
Or, you know, skip the beer and go with my personal favorite: MD 20/20.

....and I'll gladly honor you with the Pensacola Bay Brewery "Conquistador" dopplebock. Hell of a fine brew.
