Derrick Walton leads three U-M basketball recruits ranked in latest Rivals 150
The updated rivals hoops 150 came out this morning and three Wolverines are on the list!
Derrick Walton 57
Zakarie Irvin 68
Mark Donnal 103
Came out this morning? I highly doubt that. Unless I have gone back to the future.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it came out Monday or yesterday.
Still think Irvin is ridiculously underrated, however Beliens recruits have seen large jumps in the past, and this year will be no different.
Rod Beard followed up today with this article on Walton: Fearless Derrick Walton Jr. builds on Michigan's point guard prowess
The article leads off with this:
Over the years, Michigan's football program has produced its share of NFL skill players — so much so that the school occasionally has earned monikers such as "Quarterback U" or "Receiver U" from pundits.
The basketball program might be on its way to earning its own label: "Point Guard U."
. . . and also includes a quote about Walton from a certain Brian Cook:
"He was [a] point guard who made good decisions and could score," said Brian Cook, editor of mgoblog.com, which publishes deep basketball and football recruiting analysis. "This year, he's just taken it to another level. He's got that ability to hit big shots at the end and absolutely is fearless. With a point guard who's going to have the ball at the end of games, that's a huge quality to have.
"He's also very talented in that although he's not super athletic, he knows how to change pace to get by guys. He's a good passer and a pure floor general."
The article quotes Brian Snow from scout.com, not MGoBrian
I quoted the article as it originally appeared--it was changed later.
I thought that might've been what happened
Goodluck Okonoboh?
Anyone know anything about James young, the 8th ranked player int he country who is from Troy? ANy reason why we wouldn't be targeting him heavily?
There are serious grade concerns to work out. I have not heard anything over the many times people have asked about him to think that Michigan will spend any time seriously targeting/recruiting him.
Word is the angry midget has got his hooks into the poor kids psyche. Unless Calipari can find room for this kid(word is he is begging for a KY scholly) he probably ends up at East Lansing Junior College.
Apparently he has academic issues that have kept some of the big schools away.
Also, he has said that if Kentucky offers, he will commit. So he's basically their's to lose.
Looks like another strong class no matter where the rankings end up.
