Trey Burke Twitter rumors [Good]

Submitted by Jivas on

There have been two recent Tweets that hint that Burke may be returning:

Part One:

Keith Langlois @Keith_Langlois FWIW. NBA personnel guy in Miami for #Pistons game says he believes Trey Burke is headed back to Michigan. Would go in 30s, he said

Part Two:

Suz @OhhSuzannah: @suckatsports report from church. The Burke family is telling members of our congregation that Trey's staying another year. We'll see!

Take it FWIW.  Didn't see anything on the Board on the most recent "information".  Hopefully these tea leaves are accurate!

MOD Edit: Moved to board. Commence HAPPY FREAK OUT! [zl]

Trey is an unbelievable player but due to his size its really going to hold him back from the NBA. The sooner he realizes that the better. He should stay all 4 years and then the NBA can really get a great feel for what he will be able to do at the next level. Plus it will allow him to mature and get better and become more of a leader.

but I disagree Burke would go in the "30's" in the draft.  I'd say more like in the 50's, if that.  He's got a lot of potential, but he needs more time to develop it.  And being a starter at PG for Michigan playing lots of minutes will help him a lot more than sitting on the bench most of the time in the pro's.   But, I'm preaching to the choir here.

I've always thought that the longer it dragged on, the better our chances of keeping Trey look. If he was gone, he would have announced it in the middle of last week when the initial report came out. It sounds like Beilein & co. and his family have been working hard at convincing him to stay, which is why we haven't heard anything official in 5 days. At least that's the timeline I believe.

No matter what, tomorrow's the day. We'll know for sure if he declares and is gone, or is withdrawing and comes back.

Surprising that Trey is still thinking about coming back after the responses he received (mostly on twitter) from the Michigan fanbase following the initial (inaccurate) report that he was gone.  It would definitely be best for Michigan, and most likely Trey, if he were to return to school.  To those that are wondering where UM will be ranked in preseason polls, it is my opinion that with Trey this is a top 5 team.  In almost every (way to early) preseason poll, IU is ranked #1 or #2.  If Burke is back, there is no way anyone can convince me that IU should be much higher than Michigan.  Each team returns almost every key piece, and adds an upgrade in talent for each player lost.  Without Trey, this is a top 20 team in the mold of last years squad.  Nonetheless, if Burke is back this will be the most talented team since the '97 squad.

Benji Buke Easter tweet seems to obviously relate to Trey's situation:

"Dreams come true when you get out of ur own way. "

Between the lines contextual interpretation:

"Trey, you will get to the NBA some day. You need to stop fearing the unknown and trust in your abilities and work ethic to achieve this. Put your own motivations aside and let God do what he does."

Seems like he's leaning Blue again.

IMO, Stauskas is a much better version of Vogrich.  I also think those believing McGary or Robinson will have the biggest impact on the team very well could be wrong.  It may in fact be Stauskas.

Stauskas is a perfect fit for this offense.

I agree that Stauskas is a great fit for this offense, but I don't think he will have quite the impact that Robinson will.  Stauskas has a very similar style to Hardaway in that he is a pure shooter that can occasionally create his own shot.  Robinson is the type of player that a coach can run his offense through.  I also think that Stauskas is a 6'6" version of Stu, as opposed to Vogrich.  Stauskas has a much better handle than Vogrich and will also suprise people with his athleticism, much like Stu.
