Michigan: Chalk to win the Big 10 and the rest of its games
So, I am working on a Big 10 post for the JCB to hopefully time with another raucous MGoPodcast, which I assume will be posted later today. I am looking over stats, boxscores, depth charts and, naturally, I eventually check the updated odds.
Two shocks. Michigan is not only favored to win their remaining 4 games, but they are also the current betting chalk to win the Big 10 Championship.
All lines are from Sportsbook.com
Game lines:
MICH -4.5 at Iowa
MICH -3 at Illinois
MICH -3 vs Nebraska
MICH -5.5 vs Ohio State
Big Ten Championship Odds:
MICH +200 (2/1)
Wisco +300 (3/1)
PSU +300 (3/1)
Brasker +350 (3.5/1)
MSU +450 (4.5/1)
OSU +600 (6/1)
Down the stretch we come and MICH is somehow the favorite.

osu has a tough defensive line. we wont be able to run like we did vs purdue and we will have to rely on denards ability to throw the ball in tight spaces. osu is a champion and all the players have confidence. our players...well...need to overcome all the likely seeds of doubt tht will creep in if things dont go right as they dont know what its like to win a big tough meaningful game against a rival. i hope r coaches confidence will spill over into the players. i want to beat ohio soooo bad...but its hard to believe we can let along "bet" on it

to win all 4 remaining games, and good enough to lose all 4 remaining games.

and if we go 2-2 and beat tsio, we should be happy to have had such a solid year while transitioning to a new offense and new defense and new coaching staff.

Agreed.
I am not even thinking about UM making it to the B1G CG because it is incredibly unlikely. If UM can win 2 of the next 4 games including a win over OSU for a 9-3 regular season, I will be extremely pleased. That will easily exceed my pre-season expectations for this team.

How is it that MSU beat us, has an easier schedule going forward, and has odds that are twice as long as ours?
