Who are the poorest that are paying? The citizens of Brazil/host countries, or are you referring to another group?
|6 weeks 6 days ago||'Murica||
Not a huge soccer fan, but I always get behind team USA. I BELIEVE THAT WE CAN WIN
|10 weeks 11 hours ago||The Sad Part||
Considering that I'm pretty bearish on this upcoming season (hoping for 8 wins, please don't let there be a second HORROR) you would think I'd be ecstatic if we went 10-2.
But I know that losing to Sparty and Ohio would really eat at me all winter, spring and summer long. The sad part is I will probably not be satisfied unless we beat 2 of our 3 rivals, and that's more important to me than the overall record this season (Most important is no more HORRORs)
|11 weeks 6 days ago||Great find!||
And good on you for correctly identifying the date, unlike the video owner. Maybe we should bring back the single wing...Seriously though, that offense does look well oiled, and Chappuis looks like one heck of an athlete by any standard

When he derived his three laws that remain the bedrock of classical physics, he couldn't have imagined the advances in engineering and science that would follow. In the 280 years or so since he' died, transportation, communication, agriculture and even research itself have all become radically different - based on foundations he laid.

Thanks for keeping us posted on the game. GO BLUE!

He did get out of the way. Success?
|22 weeks 4 days ago||Ours are mostly legit||
The most controversial one we claim is probably 1948, when ND was awarded the AP title pre-Bowl games, but the Freep hosted an unofficial post-bowl poll that we won and claim. Yost's point-a-minute teams, Kipke's teams and Crisler's teams are all pretty legit.
|26 weeks 2 hours ago||Best has to be '11 Ohio||
Closely followed by that year's UNL game. Worst...too many options, unfortunately. I guess I'd say '12 Ohio, but '12 ND, '13 Penn State, UConn, Akron and every Sparty game are up there too.
|26 weeks 2 hours ago||That would worry me||
It depends on context, because I'd be okay with him saying: "coach, offensive production has been poor, from what I'm seeing the problem is scheme and you need to make changes for success, also BTW 'Bama's OC is available"
|26 weeks 1 day ago||Yes!||
But the triple option is too newfangled. So us the wing t. I want a REAL Michigan offense...the single wing. BOOK IT
|26 weeks 1 day ago||I love your solution, but not your example||
I agree one hundred percent that an athlete should make money off of their own name/image. However (and I may be splitting hairs here) while the QB/RB/PG certainly have the images that earn the schools a boatload of money - even in the NFL, it's the guys in the trenches, or on defense, or setting picks that allow the QB or RB be popular and marketable. Mind you, I don't disagree with your point that 99% of athletes wouldn't earn money. I just think the real dichotomy isn't between Denard Robinson and David Molk, but between revenue sports and non-revenue sports. And to some extent I like that dichotomy. I think it's a good thing that the popularity of football has allowed Michigan to fund a ton of women's sports, and that Title IX allowed the American women to lead the way at the Olympics and allowed the USA to win the medal count. I'm not just okay with subsidizing non-revenue sports - I'm a strong proponent of it. Do I think Denard Robinson deserves a cut of his jersey and autograph sales? Absolutely. I think his teammates also deserve a cut of it. And I think that, as happens right now, all the non-revenue sports should get a cut of it too - even if they maybe don't "deserve" it. (With apologies to Clint Eastwood - "deserve's got nothing to do with it.")

The end of a basketball game is usually incredibly frustrating and drawn out - rather than the back and forth you see during the rest of the game, there's a sudden stop after every possession by the trailing team for a timeout or a foul. In baseball, sure you may walk the other team's best hitter in certain situations, but I don't think I've ever seen a pitcher walk two hitters in a row intentionally. In basketball? You'll totally see teams foul and then foul again immediately to put a guy on the line and hope he misses a shot.
|26 weeks 6 days ago||10 wins||
Is a fair expectation for next season's schedule, and from the "WAY too early" thread a few weeks back I think it's what most MGoBloggers are expecting as well. Personally, that's my barometer for this staff. Less than that would be three mediocre, underwhelming seasons in a row, and probably includes losses to all out rivals or losses to teams we "should" beat. More than 10 and we're probably all planning a trip to Indianapolis.
|27 weeks 3 days ago||Expected Value||
Of ~9.5 wins? Which seems in line - 10 wins means this fan base is mostly happy, 9 means we're lighting our torches and sharpening our pitchforks (myself included)
|27 weeks 4 days ago||This||
Is by far the most accurate prediction
|27 weeks 4 days ago||10-2||
Behind Sparty in the East but ranked in the top 15 and Hoke gets another year - with high expectations. We beat ND or Ohio, and if it's the latter the fan base is livid.
|27 weeks 4 days ago||Some of the positives of the past seven years||
Our basketball team was in the national title game, the big chill, Hunwick, under the lights, Denard Robinson - all of that has been pretty unexpected too, and in a positive way.
|27 weeks 4 days ago||And if we can't make that leap||
I'm okay saying "see ya."
|27 weeks 4 days ago||To turn this around||
If you had told Alabama 7 years ago they'd be perennial contenders who won three titles and lead the SEC to an unprecedented national championship streak - while in the midst of a five game losing streak to Auburn and while in the midst of another coaching search - well I think they'd be as shocked as I would've been if you told me what the next seven years held for us.
|27 weeks 4 days ago||Getting old has its moments||
There's much to be said for maturity. Sometimes you go through a rough patch and think "my best days are behind me," and then all of a sudden you see things open up in front of you.
|27 weeks 4 days ago||Please don't consider this lynching||
It's just a friendly disagreement based on optimistic expectations.
|27 weeks 4 days ago||I wouldn't have believed it||
However if this time last season you told me the line would struggle and we'd be 7-6, I'd shrug my shoulders and say "well they are young."
|27 weeks 4 days ago||I cautiously believe||
Next year, Hoke needs to get it done. I think he can or else I'd say he should go.
|27 weeks 4 days ago||B1G East||
Or a top 15 finish. Thankfully the only way we do either is by beating our rivals. M is not for "mediocre." I understand the team is young, the cupboard was bare, etc. next year if we're not DAMN close to winning the division, it's going to take something exceptional for me to understand why Hoke is still around
|27 weeks 6 days ago||Isles is fast||
Football is a game of specialists - especially at the highest levels. Being incredibly fast but not being a great tackler is an asset on a football field, because your liabilities can be mitigated by taking you off the field. Having watched him play rugby he is stupid fast - not a great tackler and as a back he's not asked to get too involved in the other hitting aspects. But like Schwarz said - he looks like a track star in a rugby uniform. I think football is much better for his skill set than rugby union. He could end up like a Devin Hester, worst case. Desmond did win a SB MVP that way, didn't he?

Do they get to come?
|29 weeks 2 days ago||In isolation, '08 was the worst||
'13 had it's stomach punches and the depressing end to the hockey streak, but the worst thing about this season was the deflating hopes from our preseason expectations. '06 was actually a great FB season to experience - it just hurts in hindsight since that's the last time we were nationally relevant. Looking at other sports, a forgettable hockey team in '06 is better than missing the tourney, and the Tigers were in the WS. Basketball was not even on anyone's radar in '06 and '08.
|30 weeks 2 days ago||Get rid of PI||
Defensive holding is already a penalty, and the it's already a penalty for straight tackling a receiver ("targeting a defenseless player") so what does PI give you at all? If someone can be pushed around by someone else while running full speed down the field, they need to hit the weights. Also: this is football. Pushing people is a part of the game.

Just my suggestion.
