While this team…

Bears = C
While this team has so many needs to fill, I'm not sure getting 3 DBs was a good idea. Must have been seen as value picks by the new GM.  If a third of these guys pan out, it's a success to me.  I fully expect this team to be drafting top 3 next year. Hopefully then, we can add a top WR or OL to the team.

Lower picks =/= better draft

going higher in the draft means nothing if you can't scout or develop players.

I bet SF is far happier with Alex Smith at #1 overall instead of A.Rodgers.  And once that 1st round is over, your draft spot really becomes irrelevant since everyone has had a shot at every player available. That's where you really turn your team around if you can draft guys like L.Briggs, F.Gore, L.Tillman, T.Brady, J.Tuck, etc.

fixating on 7-1

everyone seems to think the "collapse" down the stretch was a huge suprise. Their schedule before the season started was so predictable. The only games that went opposite of expected were the loss to SEA and game 16  @ DET.

What if they were 3-5 and then went 7-1? 10-6 is 10-6. They Bears are who we thought they were!!!

Not a big deal anymore

That color doesn't have a stigma attached to it like it used to. It's practically the NFL logo's 4th color these days and is quite embraced by many players who wear the pink towels, cleats, socks, tape, etc.

End of 1st

3-1 Good Guys

Moffat, Glendening, Treais w/goals

Can't help with the video, but

paraphrased:

Pregame:
Lou: "It's a no-brainer. ND will win easily and run the table and go 11-1"

Halftime:
Lou: "Total dominance by a great defense, with lots of returning starters."
M.May: "You mean the same 8 starters that let Denard go for over 500 yards on last year?"
Lou: (crickets)
M.May: (shakes head and smiles)

Postgame:
Lou: "Notre Dame's problem was they scored too fast. 10-2!"

Happens in other sports, so why not

The hockey team (and prob other teams) allows seniors to keep a jersey after the season is up, so why not  just wait on giving the football Srs the UTL jerseys when their eligibility is up.

Pure Michigan

The Situation probably saw that Pure Michigan - MSU ad, and new he had to check out MSU and then make a stop at the Landshark.

WNBA-ish

Maybe they want some additional revenue by sharing the venue with the Chicago Sky

Not likely to happen

Ramirez's agent told the Tribune that Rami won't waive his no trade clause. If he doesn't allow a trade, to the Tigers or anyone, he has a $2M buyout next year instead of the $16M he's owed. It's not a matter of If, but When he'll be gone. Unfortunately the rebuilding and cost cutting will mean seeing A.R. leave and not Soriano.

Tradition?

Ever see the Chicago Bulls intro?  Add a horse shoe which they touch before entering the stadium and there you go.

The scoreboard shows a computer generated first person camera flying around and eventually through various parts of the stadium to the Alan Parsons Project's tune "Sirus."  Then the camera goes live to the actual players before they run out. Started in 1994

Scooter - Check

Swede -- Check

Hunny - coming soon?

SCooooooooooooooooter!!!!!

YES!  See you Sat UMD!

Heart issues

mine is pounding too much.  I can't take 60 min of PK hockey

Come on Boys!

Let's get some offense going and stay out of the box!

40 down 20 to go

Nice 40 min PK. Let's make it 2-0

After reading that preview, all I can think of is:

"One game.

If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine.

But not this game. Not tonight.

Tonight, we skate with 'em.
Tonight, we stay with 'em, and we shut them down because we can!
Tonight, we are the greatest hockey team in the world."

Green Line

There's a reason Green Line is cheaper.  That's probably the only way they could sell it.

It was new to me too the last time I was back in Chicago but the server flat out told me "No" when I asked for one. He brought me a Matilda instead.  I asked for a taster still and I must say Green Line was one of the most tasteless swill I've ever had.

At least AB has been expanding past pilsners since they were bought out by InBev.

Bears who were our college rivals

OSU -
Shaun Gayle, Raymont Harris, Alonzo Spellman, Craig Krenzel

MSU -
Jim Miller, Paul Edinger, and currently Kellen Davis

I couldn't stand Krenzel at OSU and hated him even more as a Bear because he was so horrible. Raymont Harris and Shaun Gayle were different stories; loved them in Chicago.  Jim Miller, I liked playing QB in the early 2000's for the Bears but now, I get all pissed at him again when I see him doing tv work for MSU.

July 3

That's why I love July 3rd.

If it falls on a weekday, work is a blowoff since everyone wants to leave early.
If the 4th is on the weekend, I get my bday off.
I always get the next day off to recover.

It's basically New Year's Eve, but with better weather, summer bbqs, and I get to share it with Tom Cruise.

Sounds familiar

It's the NHL's version of Moss to the Vikings. If only the Islanders could send him to Detroit + cash.

Ditto - Classy kid

Greenham seems like a great kid and a damn good goaltender; he impressed me more than Nagle from FSU who many drool over. In addition to having some fun out there with the student section and Rust, he skated over to check on Louie when Cap was on the receiving end of a boarding call. Post game, he didn't just go through the motions in the handshake line, but actually had words with a few Wolverines while giving them the bro-hug.

Big Chill impact?

Wonder if the Big Chill at the Big House helped these two who were on the fence with their verbal commitment switch schools. Seems like it considering the timing of the news.

What made Gibson's choice even better was that he left OSU. Must be a smart kid.

Rick Comley

Comley weighing in on what's "un-called for" on the ice?  What would he say if the shoe were on the other foot?  Prob nothing. Just ask Corey Tropp.

MgoMenorah

1 win per candle where the 9th center candle represents the bowl win?

Very Happy

I'm a season ticket holder for hockey who is very happy. I sent in my application immediately.

Section 23 , Row 64.  50 yard line seats in a good row. Didn't want them to be too low for this event.

Production vs Cost = Terrible

EDIT: Sorry for the double post.

His batting stats align more with someone making in the low $3,000,000 range.  His versatility and fielding, plus maybe additional premium for what he means to merchandising, would put him a little higher than 3 mil.  We'll see once the finacials are made available.

Production vs Cost = Terrible

Looking at 3 year avg, from '08-10, of all 3B w/ min 300 plate appearances (40 qualified), Inge ranks in the following categories:

Salary: 8th
Runs: 27th
Hits: 26th
HR: 16th
RBI: 14th
BB: 10th
SO: 3rd
BA: 37th
OBP: 31st
SLG: 31st
OPS: 31st

My experience 2 years ago

Bought them through the BG Ticketzone, which will bring you to ticketmaster and picked them up at will call.

Sections F,G,H = Student section. There were plenty of UM fans on the opposite side of the ice in A-D.  Or just buy a General Admission ticket in the endzone and choose who you sit by.

Maybe it was because the game was 1-0 and no one had too much to cheer about, but the BG fans weren't bad at all.

Outside food

It's part of my game day experience to bring BTB into Yost as well. Never had a problem before and I don't think I will this year either.  The statement didn't say, "NEW" at the beginning of the paragraph about food, so it'll probably be overlooked by ushers.

Win is a win...unfortunately

Throw a few lucky wins at a 500 team and their record will be good enough for management to keep Lovie around. They can't possibly keep this up with that OL and secondary. It'll hit the fan soon enough, I hope.

Minor correction

Actually Collins passed on the Bears' initial offer. He wanted guaranteed money rather than just be a rent-a-qb for the preseason.

Who can blame him? With that O-Line, the small weekly paycheck wouldn't be worth the punishment he'd be taking each game, only to be cut  when Hanie comes back.

ATrain was a victim of circumstances

2001:  Not a single injury on the OL + Consistant play at QB  = ROY
Stats:  1183/7,  Team = 13-3

2002: OL has 8 starters (3 as rookies) + QB goes down for 1/2 the season = Slump.
Stats:  721/6,  Team = 4-12

2003 : OL was pretty healthy + 3 different QBs (K.Stewart era) = Ok season
Stats:  1024/6,  Team = 7-9

2004: Bears sign T.Jones to help the struggling offense.  A.Thomas starts 2 games.

When the offense was healthy all around and the QB was marginally talented, as was the case with Jim Miller, he did well. Management got scared of his poor avg yds/att and brought in T.Jones for very cheap and that spelled the end of the A-Train in Chicago. Still one of my favorite Bears in my lifetime.

Flipside

That's 1 more win than Jimmy Howard has vs Chicago at Joe Louis Arena.

Wings should be fine no matter who Chicago has in net.

If you love beer go at least once

It's worth it to me. I'd rather have all the breweries come to me then waste countless hours driving to them only to find out their beer is not to my liking.

It sort of depends on the situation. All places are supposed to collect the tokens. Some are strict about it. Some sort of go on the honor system. Sometimes when it's been busy or my mind is elsewhere I've honestly forgotten and no one said anything.

I usually end up buying a few extra, but certain places give you nicer pours. Near the end of the day other festival goers will often give away tokens for whatever reason.  If you go Saturday, pours and token ignoring become more liberal as breweries will try to empty their kegs.

It's a great time. Buy ahead of time for a cheaper rate. Then you've got a little extra to buy more tokens if needed.

This criminal...

..probably doesn't think these comments are very humerus.

Edit: you beat me to it!

My bad

Maybe it was wishful thinking on my part.  That or I scanned the list too fast and saw PIT.

Missing / Forgot?

I think these guys have some fantasy football value:

L.Fitzgerald WR (ARI) PIT
A.Gonzalez WR (IND) OSU
N.Rackers K (HOU) ILL
C.Buckhalter RB (DEN) NEB

Full backfield in DEN for Buck though. K.Smith and K.Moreno are there. Not sure how the depth chart looks, but it's can't favor C.B.

Yup

Amazon bought them out  in 2008.  I guess it's been awhile since I bought online.

Albris

Albris is completely legit.  Sort of the big player for books (not named amazon)

Abebooks.com is also a good source.

My favorite for collectible books is bookfinder.com
Bookfinder will list books by actual physical book stores, new/used. Most book stores are runned by very trustworthy people. I've never had a problem once I found, called, and paid for a book using bookfinder.

Dismantling?

I wouldn't exactly say they're pulling a Florida Marlins. More like a shuffling of contracts. After a 49 year drought, moving some role players isn't the biggest worry since the core will be kept in tact. Winning the cup a few times over the careers of Kane/Toews/Keith would be the goal, not a five-peat.  The Wings have proven to be the model of success nowadays, not the Oilers or Islanders of the 80s.

Chelios is classic

I was watching that Cubs game on tv. He tells the Bob and Len, "See I promised the people here I'd bring the Cup home to Chicago one day." Even as a Hawks fan, that made me laugh.

Opportunity was there

I just don't see how he was screwed. The team had the best record in the NHL in 91 and got upset in round 1.  Lost the Cup in 92. In 93 they were  #1 in their conference and lost in the 1st round again.  The opportunity to win with a very stacked team was there for many years.  They didn't cash it in.  He got traded as the team was heading south and others were no longer on the team for various reasons too. Had he stayed, I don't think he'd be looking back on those years, 97 and on, as years he longs to relive.

I get the play on words but

Hawkeytown sounds more like a Boston reference than a Chicago reference

Congrats to Madden and the rest of the Hawks.

How'd JR get screwed by the Hawks?

Must be

Latest Deker newsletter says Patrick Summers will be replaced as the 3rd goalie next year.

PTI...ugh

Bartman didn't boot the easy double play a few batters later when they still had the lead or lose game 7 all together.  Cubs had plenty of chances to make everyone forget about the incident. You only get 1 chance to mess up a perfect game.

They've been doing Michigan's hockey jerseys for about a decade now and have all the fonts from past seasons in their computers. Very good company to work with. I had a replica maize block M with the laced collar done with that Colorado Avalanche-ish font and the triple colored arched lettering that they only wore around 05-06 and it looks perfect.
