The conclusion states "a coach engaged in sign stealing is not just involved in an ethical practice, but it is a recommended best practice to keep up with their competitors." Couple this with the points made by coaches and the B1G clearly stating they are upset with sign stealing (not the off-campus scouting) like "players are at risk of injury..." or "he's standing next to the coach looking across the sidelines..." and I feel there is a fair argument that nonsense is going on. I believe JBB ended the past two years starting at either of the tackle spots, and I think there is the option left of a 5th year for him next year. Doesn't seem that the safe bet is two freshman beat him out. But it could happen. There are 9 months to go. If the staff posted the top returning lineman as it stands now, one would think there'd be a lot of interior lineman at the top of the list. So it will be interesting to see what happens there, in the interior, and if any of those guys can hold up at a tackle spot -- with their "best five" philosophy..
Jalen Goss was recruited by some P5 schools as a TE. He has mentioned that how much his parents like the school and educational opportunites will be big factors.
Mike Barrett moved from linebacker to QB for his high school team. It appears the move occurred junior year. Some of his early high school tape is exclusively at LB.
Chevy Bolt looks pretty great. No idea why Chevy is not really promoting the vehicle. Focus EV also seems pretty solid, but again, few probably know that it exists. Hyudai Ionic EV is another good looking deal. I drive LEAF. But yeah, I dont think people know they can get a fast, 200 plus mile range EV for ~ 30k (Bolt). You don't need to change your life to get one. You can just plug in to 3 prong outlet in garage overnight and be good to go. Would highly recommend used LEAF to anyone interested in EV as you can get them for as low as 7k.
Hot take: Zach Gentry emerges as key player for UM. The flimsy evidence for this is the recruitment of Schoonmaker and a profile on Gentry at mgoblue.com. The only negative takeaway from the little bit we've seen of him on the field at UM is that he doesn't quite pass the eye test in terms of thickness. But that's something that's easily enough addressed. I think that he has stayed so in the thick of things at TE while a bit underdeveloped for the position physically is a good sign for his future.
Match fixing has been proven in other high profile leagues, I guess. But it's one of those things you just can't discuss without feeling like you're talking about Bigfoot or alien abductions (all three are obviously totally real). More pressingly, did anyone else see Papa John kiss Manning as he took the field at the end?
Per his interview on WTKA, Kemp is on a maintain-lose weight room regimen as Brown wants him no bigger than he is now (260 lbs). Kemp stated that 250-255 might be optimal. He said he'd play MLB and confirmed that BUCK is no longer a position. Will be a 4-3. You're right he could be a SAM, like J. Ryan or MIKE.
I consider the whole staff was split for this game. Almost certainly Mattison was paired with Drevno and Fisch was paired with Durkin. It will be interesting to see the arrangement for sure on Saturday and to see where other coaches ended up. Anyway, both teams should have accomplished coordinators managing both the offense and defense. The Michigan difference?

I agree, I'm interested to know why UM might want the contract information known to the public, if there is one on the table.
An agent might want to float that info to adjust a client's value (he did have a disappointing season (in the eyes of fans) with impression of organizational issues). I could even see the niners wanting that info out if they want to set a value point for other nfl teams that would talk trade. This information makes Jim look valuable and in demand.
What good is it for UM that this info is out and would they risk it -- would they make the offer? A number of posters have said they believe offers only go out when the coach is ready to sign.
Kirk Herbstreit would be the other guy interested in floating this information, obviously.
Anyway I agree with questioning what good is the publicity for UM here.

On the point of Mallory staying on as a DC, there is another coach on staff that did pretty well. I want to suggest Mark Smith did a heckuva job while at UM. The first couple years with the linebackers he had them developing quickly, and last year the defensive line, those young guys starting getting at it too. I suggest that his unit may have been the best unit on the team since he was hired. I think it'd be awesome to keep him on staff.
