So many malaprops from which…

So many malaprops from which to choose, but I think "Deckland Sullivan" and "wall of Buckeye memorandum" were my favorites.

Fandango Fandango - a Costner movie from 1985
Senior year

1985 M v OSU. Harbaugh's bomb to Kolesar in the 4th quarter. The student section I was in became totally, end-of-the world unhinged. I've seen a lot of great UM moments over the years, but that is my personal fave.

The Masters

Best part about the event is the on-course drama. Nicklaus in 1986 is the best example. As for annoyances: CBS's faux-reverent cheesy guitar music and Jim Nance sounding like he's on the brink of tears for 4 straight days.

1997

Last time I saw a quarterback beaten up like that was John Hessler in the Colorado game in 1997. UM just lived in his backfield- blitzes coming every which way and/or linemen giving him about 2 seconds to throw. By the end of the game he was throwing it away after counting to 2 potatoes just so he wouldn't get hit anymore.

I felt bad for him and obviously worse for Gardner on Saturday.

Softness

Other teams believe UM is soft, and UM goes out in a game like this and proves it. Before the flames begin about "How can you say Gardner is soft after the pounding he took," my point is that he never should have been in that position- so beat up he could not play at the end of the 4th quarter. Whose fault is that? Not Gardner's.

Akron, UCONN and Indiana believed they could win and played like they believed. Same with Sparty. How else can you explain those games? No one fears UM coming to their home field, and why should they, based on what we've seen thus far?

Ohio wins because they believe they will win and they impose their will on the other team. We can argue stars, schemes, coaches, recruiting ad nauseum, but the winning attitude is plain to see. They also happen to have the horses to do it.

As for UM, I'm not sure if the horses are able and not willing, or if the horses are confused and looking for leadership. I think it's the latter. Leadership comes from the top.

On the road Sparty wins 24-10. M plays like a 4-8 team on the road. I'll happily join the other naysayers at the Borges All You Can Eat Crow Buffett should my prediction prove to be wrong.
I'm taking...

...the over.

Corners holding

Dennard did not get away with it against ND. There were at least 5 flags for holding/PI against Dennard and others in the MSU secondary in that game. So much so that Dantonio had a closed-door complaint session with the B1G. As for Roby, I haven't seen enough of him to judge, other than the fact that he is a Buckeye and is probably cheating.

Anecdote, I know...

...but EVERY SC grad I know is over the moon about the firing. Not one of them liked him. Ever. Jack Del Rio is very high on their wish list.
