Lima Beans

My mother used to force me to sit at the table until I had ate all of my Lima Beans.  To this day I have never forgiven her.

Mike Burger

any updates on whoever this was, not asking for his privacy, but is he doing OK now?

Magnus

Whoever said that above, I agree, I always thought that was actually him for the longest time.  And I don't remember the posters name, but there was a guy on here once who actually had his own picture as his avatar and when someone pointed it out, it became one of the funniest threads ever.

Hack: I've decided to retain Brady Hoke.  No one cares about our kids more than he does.

Hoke: Well, obviously I need to execute better as a coach.  Just happy to be able to stand on those sidelines and clap one more year.  I love the clap, it hides the fact that I really have no idea what's going on out there on the field.  And I am going to execute that clap on game days just as hard as I do in practice.  I am aware that this won't make some fans very happy, well, obviously not fully aware, but I have 115 sons out there, at least that I am aware of.  Go Blue Fergodsakes!

I did

I put Brian down as a write-in.  Normally I do not vote for any college regents as I do not feel it's right of me to place a vote for someone who makes decisions that do not effect me.  I've always wondered why those positions are made by the general electorate.  I do not have enough information on any of those candidates to make an informed decision and therefore choose not to vote on those particular races.

And while I did not ask permission, I did write in Brian with the mindset that it helps get his name out there even more and he made it clear that he will be running for regent the next go around.

First post

in 2 years and 50 weeks and it's about BBQ instead of Michigan.

Just wanted to say that this was a great marketing idea as I had never tried Stubb's before until you posted last week.

So, I bought some and loved it and plan on this being my goto BBQ sauce from here on out!

I am ashamed to admit this

but as a life long Michigan fan who lives less than an hour away from the Stadium, I finally made my first game this past Saturday.  A season ticket holder had extra tickets at $70, one of which I purchased.  He ended up giving me the ticket for the seat next to me at no charge.  I was more than happy to pay $70 for two tickets to see Michigan play.  I did notice though when we were first walking into the stadium that there were plenty of people trying to sell tickets, one here, two there etc.  They were asking a lot less than the $70 I paid.  I have to imagine this happens all of the time.  Someone with a ticket can't go so they try and sell the ticket before the game and will take whatever they can get out of it.

That's how I've been going to NASCAR races at MIS the last 15 years. Never buy a ticket from the box office, just wait until race day and find someone who is willing to get something, anything for an extra ticket rather than eat the entire cost.

I think this is how I will approach my next Michigan game, just show up on game day and find someone who needs to sell a ticket.

Sorry

If i've missed some of your other post, but your post says you were in the 1986 team picture.  I'm assuming as a player?  Either way, that's awesome - glad you're here.

My first post

concerning the coaching change and or coaching search.  I personally don't care who we get to coach the team as long as he stands up on that podium and promises us he is going to beat MSU and OSU every time we play them as long as he is our coach!

A million pluses to you

for still having a rotary dial phone

My only protection

from not getting fired for visiting Mgoblog a million times a day while at work is - the IT guy who monitors are internet usage is actually the guy who told me about this site 3 years ago.

However, our City Administrator is a State fan - so my salvation could be short lived.  Especially since I rubbed it in that my team only lost their bowl game by 38 while his lost by 42

How do you know when things are crazy?

When Two Girls One Cup gets thrown into a coaching discussion.  +50 to you

Okay - stupid question time

and I'm sure these answers can be found with some search effort, but I'll just ask here.

1) Are 'official' visits paid for by the school?

2) Is there a limit on the number of 'official' visits a school can have, or is the limit only on the recruit (seems like I remember reading on here that a recruit can only take so many official visits)

3) The answer to either of the above questions will probably help answer this one, but if the player is already committed (such as the three you mention in the post) what is the purpose of an 'official' visit.  I would assume they've already visited campus (maybe an unofficial visit) thus the reason for their committment.

Thanks in advance

One of the several things I like about your writing style is that your 'mood' and 'feelings' come through in your writings.  This was a classic example.  Reading it almost felt like I was sitting there next to you feeling the exam same thing, but not in a gay kind of way, not that there is anything wrong with that.

And for the first time

OPP really reflects the breakdown.

Personally

the only excuse for me would be a funeral of an immediate family member.  Last little league season I missed several of my son's games to watch Wings playoff games.  Like Boujie said above, he'll have hundreds more that are far more important.  When that happens, my son will come first.

I'm fortunate enough to have a very understanding wife.  Our last two anniversaries were spent away at Bed & Breakfast places, but both times we took time out of our getaway to watch Michigan football games.  And when we were married 10 years ago, our wedding was intentionally scheduled on the bye week.

Oh bouje

you're just being a douchebag for thinking that.

Last year

for MSU - Michigan week I hijacked the city hall intercom and played Hail to the Victors for all to enjoy (I work with mostly MSU fans).

Thought I would try something different this year so I got here early this morning and took down the city seal flag and replaced it with a Michigan flag.

It's still there, 40 feet in the air, blowing in the wind, right next to Old Glory.  Hopefully it makes it through the weekend, but it's hard to miss.

Hopefully this thread doesn't get deleted, but this really wasn't worthy of its own thread and I didn't want to hijack another thread, but with a hundred or so MSU fans working here, I thought it was worthy of at least sharing.

I signed up

for the Air Force when I was 16 because that's all I had ever wanted to do and I hated, HATED school and at the time vowed I would never open up another school book or take another test.  But I had lived in Michigan all of my life.  Can't remember how I became a fan, but have been watching Michigan games as far back as I can remember.

I served in the military during the first Gulf War and I think I have told this story before, but the Fab 5 were playing the infamous timeout game.  I was stationed in Saudi and had talked our base General into getting us a satelite dish and TV so I would be able to watch that game.

They hooked it up in the mess hall.  So there I was, by myself at 3 in the morning Saudi time watching that game.

I ended up going to College using my GI Bill when I got out, but I would never have gotten into U of M even if I had tried.

Still - Go Blue!!!!!

yeah

but at least I didn't start a thread about my dream.  Ha

Michigan

gets 3 interceptions, one we return for a pick 6.  Michigan ultimately wins with special teams play

I agree with this.

It happens all the time during the NHL playoffs.  I'm not a troll, but I do like to go to whoever the Wings are playing and read what the other side has to say, but the past few years, a couple of those messages boards require you to be a registered user to even read forum topics, and during the playoffs they will put a hold on any new registrations.

Maybe overkill - but it is effective.

Can we just

move this to the Hall of Fame right now?

I'll grab a bag of popcorn and enjoy the show.

I will probably never reach

a 1000 points because I mostly just read the threads, with a comment here or there sporadically.  I think I've only ever started two threads - Chili recipes and Stuff Not Important Enough to get it's own thread.  So I'm okay with whatever the threshold gets raised too if it helps clean things up.

If I need to find out what Michigan theme to name my dog, I'll just post that in the Dee Hart thread.

The problem with that is

the responses are so quick, by time you go through all of that to see if your pick has already been taken, by time you get to posting it, there could have been another 50 posts, and one could have taken your pick

Ha

Denard Robinson killed tacopants.  That's awesome!

How awesome is it

to read that we assume Michigans offense will be in the top 20.  I'm sure this is a concensus, but I love watching this offense.  I've almost gotten to the point where I expect a touchdown on every drive.

Is this possible?

Brian's blog is his main source of revenue and I think I had read that the t-shirt sales were a big part of that.  Having said that, he has a lot to lose if he were to get sued for any compliance issues.

So the question is, would it be possible for an individual, like me for example, to have the t-shirts made and sold?  This way it has nothing to do with Mgoblog.  We would have to set up a way though so Brian still receives the same compensation he was before.

And I'm not volunteering to do this, I don't have the time, but just curious if that would be a way to circumvent the compliance issues and keeping Brian and his blog out of it

Crazy

but this is the only thread I'm able to even see. Any other thread I try to open up gives me a big ole blank white page

I've been watching

Michigan football for as long as I can remember.  However, back in the day I could tell you the QB's name, the running back, a wide reciever or two and maybe a defensive guy or three - but it wasn't since I started reading this blog that I really became addicted to everything Michigan Football.  It's so great to look at these reviews and be familar with every name on there now because of things I've read and learned on here.

So thanks Brian and all of the other great posters who provide the endless information - I can't get enough

Kicking myself

for not saving that picture.  That could have been internet legend, or course, we would have had to photoshop the Michigan off the kids clothes and put something like, Ohio State in its place - but still, Internet legend!

Move this thread

to the HOF!!!!!!!!!!

We've got

1) Drinking at 8:00 am and trying to take care of twins

2) Posing half nude and actually posting the picture

3) Hair, hair, everywhere

Drink another one!!!!!!

Dammit

don't stop, holy shit, still laughing

Thank you so much

first time I laughed all day!

Fuck that

we need to make it the #1 google hit for "posbang"

Ya yes

my bad.  I did mean a corch

Splitting them up though

would be the only way to provide the opportunity to play each other for the Big Ten Championship - right?  What other game could possibly match that hype?

I know keeping them in the same division would still make that game very important if they were both in contention for playing for the Big Ten Championship, but still - actually playing for the BTC, in my opinion, would be much, much better.

Good question

I've thought about this also.  If he can help the team now - you play him now.  If he turns out to be a NFL caliber player there is no guarentee he'll stay with the team for his full four years anyways, as a couch I would think you would want to get as much use out of him as possible if he's ready to play and needed.

However, in this particular case, unless he is clearly ahead of Tate and is a lock for the number 2 position, then redshirting is probably the best answer.

See

These are the kinds of threads that make this place great.  This place had gotten a little uptight lately.  All it took was for Brian to get drunk and use the word fuck and we finally found our way back.

Tell him

it's not really a good idea to tell us about his dogs leaky anus.

I guess

it's safe to say I suck at the brackets. First day and I'm 8-8 and already out of the office pool and there is no chance of making a rebound after today considering I had Georgetown going to the elite 8 and UTEP, Marquette and N.D. in the Sweet 16.

Dammitt!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From 700+ to

minus whatever in one night? Its been done, but anyways - some of you who are familar with some of my post concerning Threet know that I am familar with him and his family down here in Adrian.

I really rooted for this guy, a local high school football star. It was awesome to see him start for Michigan and I wanted not only the best from him but my team. I do feel he gave us mostly everything he had.

However,

Threet is one of the main contributors to the Free Press article - he threw Michigan under the bus. After him and his dad (Jewel) met with RR he decided to transfer, he felt he wasn't being treated like the football player 'he' thought he was. I'm not going to rip on him, not yet, but it's time we, as Michigan fans, know who those players were that contributed to that article - and I am telling you, whether you choose to believe it or not - Threet was the guy who started all of this bullshit

Socialization or not

dogs can be deceiving. (I have two Australian Shepherds myself).

I'm a Code Enforcement Officer for a local government here in Michigan and one of my duties is to inspect some 3000 rental units each year. I can't tell you how many times I'll go up to the unit and hear or see a dog inside and the owner will give me a response like 'his bite is louder than his bite, he wouldn't hurt a flea' etc.

But I have learned never to trust any dog. Dogs have certain things that they don't like, and until you know what those things are, you can never be assured that they won't attack. I will not enter any unit until the dog is either put in its crate, locked up in a room or put outside.

I had an Australian Shepherd that died a few years back. Back in the day while living in an apartment, I used to have all kinds of friends come over and he would never do anything, just lay on the floor or maybe go over to them to sniff. But one day, a friend came over, and I still have no idea why, but whatever it was my dog tried to attack him. It was just crazy.

I still don't have a complete handle on my dogs likes and dislikes, therefore they are always put in their crates when someone comes over until that determination can be made. For example, they are submissive to my two young children but when my young niece and nephew come over, they act completely differnt.
