Consumer-grade HDDs deteriorate right out of the box. The only way to reliably prevent data loss is via double parity as single parity leaves you vulnerable to single bit errors during parity reconstruction.
If you use consumer grade drives, only double parity (called RAID-6 or SHR-2 in Synology nomenclature) will protect your data in all but the most catastrophic scenarios.
Two suggestions:
Store the data locally using at least 5 drives and double parity. Scrub the array every month using a scheduled task. I use a Synology 1817+ with 4TB drives and two SSDs for caching.
Create a private tracker with one torrent per year of content. That way you can leverage the power of multiplicity to prevent bitrot as every block is hashed and can be re-downloaded from a peer even in the case of an astronomically rare data loss event.
I'd be willing to participate and it's possible I have some content you may not have. FWIW, I used to be the main Michigan capper for TYT pre-HDTV.
Invest in a semi-professional dish pointing device ($100 or so) - it'll save you a ton of time and frustration when setting up and gets you to the fun part of tailgating quicker.
It's the Japanese name for the type of creature (species?) exemplified by Godzilla, Wheatley, Asiasi, etc. Brian coined that phrase this week after seeing them together vs. Hawaii.
Watching some of Michigan's games this year, I've noticed several players (particularly Betsa) smiling broadly when facing a pressure situation or before a big pitch. Does anyone know if they're coached to do this?
It feels like something they've been taught to do as a way to loosen up when the natural instinct is to tighten.
No, just an observation that you're so comfortable in your bubble wherever you happen to be that you'd never bother to find out that Texans just might not be the idiots you think we are. Have fun with that, sir. Bless your heart.
Come on down and see for yourself. I went to Detroit CC and thought that was well-played. Moved out to the Bay Area and thought Concord DeLaSalle was light years better. Then I got here. The top teams regularly have 6-8 D1 players sign every year. Add that up among three classes and you basically have a young D1 team. Average them out as mid-tier D1 players, with really good coaching and 6-8 years in the same system (back to 5th grade) and you get impressive results.
I live in their rival's district (Lake Travis) which seats about 12,000. Unlike most games in Michigan, the home stands are typically SRO. Away stands attendance depends on the quality of the opponent (distance is usually irrelevant).
If you've never been to a big-time 6A HS game in Texas, you're missing out. It's played at a level that rivals even mid-tier college games. The Katy/Lake Travis final last year was one of the most impressive displays of pure football I've seen in a long time, particularly by the Katy defense.
Unless he reached out to any and all coaches that would be potential replacements and they all shot him down, so he was forced to stand pat. My, how that program has cratered.
Onwenu is a large human being. Seems like a lot of his weight is on his lower half.
Peters has great zip, at least on par with the other 2 QBs
Elliott is a beast.
No beef rib fan's life is complete without visiting the Louie Mueller BBQ in Taylor, TX (near Austin). I'm fortunate enough to live within driving distance and can honestly say that not only is theirs the best beef rib in existence, it's the best smoked meat of any kind anywhere. The average beef rib there is 1.75lbs (!).
My vote if you include nearby towns is Louie Mueller in Taylor. Wayne's beef rib is still the best meat I've ever put in my mouth (and I've put a lot in my piehole). I'd put it up against anything in Austin proper, now or previous.
If you've never been to Snow's in Lexington, go. The pork steak is beyond awesome. Dare I say, Harbaugh-level?
The general rule for BBQ enthusiasts and pitmasters alike (at least around here) is that even though they may provide sauce, it's for northerners/out-of-towners and is not to be consumed. There's a suspicion that if you push meat with sauce, you're either not a very good pitmaster or you're using low-quality meat.
I've found that one or both of those is true in the vast majority of cases where sauce is provided on the meat.
Doubt me all you want on the Top5 thing -- next time you're down here I'd be happy to host you and like so many before, you'll believe me afterwards.
We just decided to pull our 12 and 8 year olds in favor of LUOA (online homeschool). The public schools give a lot of lip service to anti-bullying, but there's little to no follow-through. Very disappointing considering how highly rated the school systems are.
We live in The Hills to be exact. I let my kids play outside unsupervised and have zero fear. Where else is that even possible? People respect and look out for one another. A truly rare thing these days.
Winter Term, 1992.
Lecturers: Lloyd Carr, Gary Moeller, Cam Cameron and the rest of the staff (each gave 1-2 lectures during the term)
Best part was having access to spring practice and film sessions. One session in particular I remember was sitting next to Collins/Grbac while they were breaking down film with the coaches. Football porn.
Levi's Stadium (the new 49ers stadium opening next fall) will have coverage for every seat in the stadium -- there are high-end connectivity devices available that support far more than 255 clients at full bandwidth.
They're using WiFi as the delivery method for replays, extra live camera angles, and a custom app that gives you bathroom and concession lines among other services.
Full disclosure: my company is a founding sponsor of Levi's Stadium so I have some KNOWLEDGE of this topic.

It was crazy. Even without subs.
Appreciate all you do!

Hope to meet some of you before the game.

...and never come down to Texas to find out how wrong you are.
We'll be just fine without you.

Can't think of a better comparison.
My sister lives in Lexington, SC. They get ice storms. They get hurricanes. Oh yeah, and it's as humid as...well, use your imagination.
I live in central Texas and the weather is far better in total than either SC or SE Michigan. By their logic, UT should get every player they want.
Simply because the dry-rub / barking technique doesn't work quite as well on that type of meat. I've seen it done, but most prefer the sauce method.
When we talk about BBQ down here, the default subject is brisket unless something else is specified. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
Surprisingly, I think it's the one thing Salt Lick does better than anyone. Their Spicy variety is the absolute bomb.
Second place is Louie Mueller's jalapeno pulled pork sauce. Phenomenal.
We, the consumers, are the winners.

Hands-down. Trust me, I live here.
Aaron Franklin is a marketing machine, but he has been surpassed in the art of BBQ.
...let alone the world. It is, however, better than any BBQ in Chicago.
Seems like running them through a MP4 compressor wouldn't lose much and would be roughly 1/4 the size. 12GB is a lot to download/seed to the masses.
Just my $.02.
Take my experience for what it's worth.
