|5 days 16 hours ago||Totally agree||
Don't know why his name hasn't been thrown around more to be honest. Maybe because he's a dead lock for an NFL gig and this would be considered a step down, but man, outside of the obvious Harbaugh (which IS HAPPENING) I can't think of a coach I'd be more excited to see on our sideline.
|5 days 17 hours ago||Interesting thoughts||
I'd still prefer we go after someone young who has a lot of upside like Adam Gase the OC of the Denver Broncos. He's a top HC candidate in the NFL (will probably get a HC job somewhere next season). He's 36. Born and raised in Ypsi. Started coaching under Nick Saban in college so he knows how to recruit. By all accounts he's one of the brightest offensive minds in the NFL and yes I know he's a MSU guy but so what? Who cares? Get the best man for the job.
|5 days 17 hours ago||Not at all||
I think there are a lot of good options out there. Unfortunately I haven't heard any of them say they've been contacted by Michigan (maybe not unfortunately if that means IT'S HAPPENING)
|5 days 17 hours ago||You hire a search firm||
Because you DON'T have a firm plan B. It's not an immediate solve to the limits of reality. If there isn't a viable option why force one?
|5 days 17 hours ago||Of course||
Hope4Harbaugh is a given. But I'd rather take one year with Nuss to making a rash hire that could and probably would end up costing us THREE years of further instability.
|5 days 17 hours ago||So you'd prefer||
Schiano to interim Nussmeier for one year? Man I know neither is a good situation to be in, but I think I'd prefer taking a mulligan year and trying again next year to being stuck with Schiano or Addazio for three years and then trying again.
|5 days 17 hours ago||I know I know||
But as you hinted at, wtf does that mean and why is a former shitty football coordinator (which is the one collegiate sport not in the Olympics) qualified for the position? It's classic cronyism which is what we need to purge out of our athletic department.
|5 days 17 hours ago||I see a very real situation||
Where we miss out on Harbaugh and there is no solid plan B - which leads to Hackett appointing Mike DeBord or Doug Nussmeier interim head coach for the upcoming season as he continues the search. I don't see Hackett trying to pull the wool over our eyes and convince us Schiano or Addazio is the guy (that's a Dave Brandon move). He'll be honest and upfront if in the end he hasn't found the right guy for the job.
|2 weeks 18 hours ago||Yep. Awful.||
I remember Barkley being really pissed they didn't hire Turner Gill.
|2 weeks 18 hours ago||Iowa State I think||
But he had a sub 500 career head coaching record (just like Hoke). I also remember him being booed by Auburn fans at the airport when he landed on his way to his introductory presser.
|2 weeks 18 hours ago||Gene Chizik at Auburn||
I remember people being very underwhelmed by that one about 6 years ago.

Life has no meaning so let's all just have some fun. It doesn't all have to be so serious.

Seems like we've got a lot of t-shirt wearing water park patrons on the thread. Apologies for ruining your Tuesday afternoons.

What was special about this years Notre Dame game other than the fact that it was a night game at Michigan Stadium? Playing the game at night MAKES it a "special game."

and rich rod is a great coach.
|3 years 6 weeks ago||RR to Penn St.||
And to solve the DC problem he's going to hire Sandusky to be his DC.
|3 years 6 weeks ago||He'd probably have an easier time||
down south drying up the pipelines from Pahokee.
|3 years 6 weeks ago||I don't think UCLA would have much interest in him||
They like to hire people with heavy Pac-10(12) experience.
|3 years 6 weeks ago||Totally agree...||
I have nothing but the utmost respect for RR. Class act.
|3 years 6 weeks ago||Because||
Because he's a really good coach and will likely come up in the discussion at some point.
|3 years 6 weeks ago||As long as RR||
As long as RR stays out of the B1G I will support him.
|3 years 6 weeks ago||The blame falls to the||
The blame falls to the coaching staff for one way or another not putting Denard in a position to succeed. He is an undersized but athletic QB. Having him run fivestep drops in the pocket and not expecting to see a handful of balls batted down or tipped is ridiculous. That's not his game. Denard is Denard when we get him outside the pocket and force the defense to think. Keeping him inside the tackles you transform him from a dual threat that tortures defenses to a mediocre (at best) quarterback who has poor accuracy down the field. It's not Denard's fault he is undersized for pocket passing. It's the coachign staff's fault for forcing the issue.
|3 years 6 weeks ago||the blame shouldn't go to denard||
the blame should go to the coaching staff. It's about putting your players in the best position to succeed and they aren't doing that with Denard. This is the fault of the offensive coaches for not truly adapting to the strengths and faults of their current personnel. Denard is a small quarterback. He isn't able to stand back in the pocket and sling the ball all over the field. Balls will inevitably get batted down and intercepted and that's not his fault. He can't miraculously grow five inches overnight and turn into Dan Marino. He is who he is and that's a great system quarterback. It's just about putting the right system around him and giving him a chance to be the best player on the field.
