JD is truly an a-MAIZE-ing young Michigan Man for having persevered, despite the disappointment he surely felt when he learned of his heart condition.

And it reflects on the kind of leader Coach Harbaugh is.  The NCAA, the Harbaugh haters, Tiny Peteetee, the whole bunch of them can kiss my heinie.

Now that you mentioned it, I do recall reading thru the first several posts to that thread.

Good plan/great results!

Wow, that's you with that sign? I immediately posted mention of it in the NFL draft thread when I saw your sign on the screen.

Great job!

Per your request, I can take the thread down, or as an alternative, I could just remove your phone #.

Let me know which option you choose. If I don't see a response within 20 minutes I'll go with the first option.

I did exactly that, bought a couple of them on the way inside the stadium on my one visit to Fenway.  Delicious!

I owe you a couple hundred…

I owe you a couple hundred upvotes for posting the infamous Lee Elia rant!

I'll only rank those I've…

I'll only rank those I've been to in person and approximate # of games there

   1)  Tiger Stadium (At least 75-100 games) Wherever you sat in the old gal, you were engulfed by it all.  The most beautiful green grass my eyes have ever seen, all the smells whether wonderful or less-than-wonderful (thinking about those ancient bathroom troughs!), the centerfield bleachers, the right field overhang (my favorite seats), the very best upper deck seats anwhere  (you felt like you were right on top of the action!). Who cares about the Detroit skyline; you were there to watch baseball!

Knowing that I'd never ever see another game there, I cried a few tears when leaving Tiger Stadium after the penultimate game in 1999.

(p.s.: and I never ever felt unsafe anywhere in the corner of Michigan & Trumbull neighborhood.)

  1.

    2) Wrigley. (A dozen or so games). I'm way overdue for anther game at Wrigley, though.  It's been about 15 years since my last visit. I used to love Wrigleyville, but no longer as much as I did back before the Cubs were trendy. Still a nice place to spend a day if you get there early enough to be ahead of the crowd before all the bars are over-packed.   Wonderful stadium especially for a day game, it just reeks of old-school baseball. . Putting it on my must-do list for this summer.

    3)  Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland. (5 exhibition games) According to things I have read, ranked at or near the top of all Grapefruit League stadiums.  And from my experience there (4 he's last spring and one game about 25 years ago) ,  a wonderful place to relax and enjoy baseball from up close.  Box seats or lawn seats, just a beautiful place to be.

    4) Old Commiskey. (roughly 8-10 games). I didn't care much for that old stadium on my first couple visits there because I only had Tiger Stadium and Wrigley as comparisons.  But over time, that place grew on me. Sox always sucked back then so you could sit practically anywhere in the ballpark.  Outfield seats seemed a mile from the plate, otherwise good sightlines wherever I sat.

Special notes :  I missed out on Disco Demolition Day there but was there the following day for Irish American Day, so much debris including broken disco albums still littered the stands.

Me and my buddies talked with Lou Whitaker one evening for several minutes as he was about to board the Tigers team bus after a Detroit victory.

And on my final visit there with my wife to see the Tigers vs the Sux, we did high fives with Isaiah Thomas of the Pistons.

    5) Truist Park Atlanta (2 games).  A big improvement over the previous 2 stadiums in Atlanta, and right now my favorite among the modern ballparks.  From walking around the ballpark a bit, excellent sightlines and creature comforts.  Don't get me started on the Tomahawk Chop, though 🤔.

    6) Comerica (~40 games) Mixed emotions about this one.  Hated it when it first opened because IT'S NOT TIGER STADIUM!  Once I got over that somewhat and looked at it more objectively, it's got some nice features but still enough negatives to keep it from being beloved:  Everything upper deck is in another zip code, it's hard to escape from the hot summertime sun (they built the damn place facing the wrong damn direction! 😠), and a Ferris Wheel 🎡??

But I do like the openness of the place.  If you like walking around inside to take in different sightlines during a game a good place to take in an inning or two is out along side the statues.

    7) Fenway (1 visit) . So much history, so bad sightlines (especially the right field stands) .  And very little aisle or butt room. But...so much history!  And on my one visit there 20+ years ago I saw Pedro throw a complete game 1-hitter.  I also snuck down and on the field about 40 minutes after the game and snapped several pictures, went right down the ground crew tunnel completely unnoticed all the way out to the right field foul line!

(I accidentally hit save before finishing, so here's the others:)

    8) Royals Stadium (Kauffman?) (2 games) Pretty stadium, nothing exceptional but also nothing negative about the place other than scorching summer heat.  Which is about what you should expect in the heartland from June thru August.

    9) Milwaukee County Stadium, former home of the Braves , occasionally the WhiteSux, and the Brew Crew. (1 game).  Actually seemed like a fun place to take in a game even if it was quite cavernous. And pre-game tailgating!  I wanted to walk around and check out the place a  bit more but the ushers said it was a no-no.

    10) Jacobs/Progressive Field (1 game).  located in ohio which is by definition an awful place.  Decent stadium but looking quite worn out compared to Comerica Park.  But a helluva lot better than the next one...

    11) Guaranteed Crap Stadium aka "New" Commiskey. (roughly 8 games).  Best thing I can say about it is that once they re-did the upper deck you no longer felt like you were about to die.  If there's a crowd, almost as bad to navigate as Joe Louis Arena if you want to get to the concessions or a restroom.

    12) Fulton County Stadium. (6 games including two during the Atlanta Olympics) . Cookie cutter? Cookie cutter!   But better than...

    13) Turner Field (5 games, including one doubleheader, plus a few track and field events during the Olympics).  What happens when you do a half-ass job of converting an all-purpose Olympic Arena into a ballpark?  This place happens.  The majority of the seats were too far away, the only saving grace was that the Braves were usually worth watching.  Did I mention though that I hate the 'tomahawk chop"?

    14) Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome.  (1 football game, 1 baseball game). Think the Silverdome covering a cookie cutter-shaped stadium, complete with a hefty bag outfield "wall".  WTF were they thinking!?

The Worst!) The hellhole where the Tampa Rays play (1 exhibition game in 2023) .  Tear it down!

While on one hand I…

While on one hand I understand your concerns on this, my intent was to say it in a humorous way. That's why I included the "McScrooge" reference.

I'll go back and rephrase it.

And it's exceedingly rare for a green-hatted spartie to be drafted by the NFL.  Most instead are picked up as UDPDD (un-drafted pizza delivery drivers).

I just noticed he's been an MGoUser since 2009 but just recently reached 100 points (the threshold to be able to post an OP).  Unfortunately , though,  [edited] someone decided to go "full McScrooge" and neg his post this afternoon for no apparent reason.

(edit @7:20:  upvote the OP "nhirsch'', not me.  He's at just 117 points and wants to use your suggestions in an online Michigan Wolverines daily newsletter that he publishes.

Great to see that James Turner is going to get an opportunity to solve the place kicking woes of the Lions .  Turner was a great portal signing last year to replace Moody and proved himself to be just as reliable for us as Jake.
