Brandon and Hoke, the self appointed keepers of the Bo flame continue to destroy this program.
REPRIORITZING:
You remember Bo telling people what he believed......"THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM".......boy, talk about getting people focused. Well, when you hire a corporate CEO, who reprioritizes THE TEAM focus and places marketing dollars at the top of the agenda, you get chicken dance songs, handing out jersey numbers without concern if the player "earned the right" to wear the jersey , combo packages for unsold tickets and we cant leave out the humilating ND loss.
THE HOKE HIRE:
The second part of the developing Shakespearian tragety is the Hoke hire. Lets face facts, the guy bleeds maize and blue unfortunately he is a mediocre coach at best (just look at this record). The only rationale behind such a hire is Brandon wanted to hire a michigan man and someone who would not upstage the self appointed "UM CEO", Brandon himself. Brandon's ego determined this hire because it was a hire he can control......so you get what you pay for......as long as Brandon refuses to admit he made a mistake, Hoke is the coach for a long time. The proof for my assertion lies in the following road not taken......imagine four years ago, a Stanford jauggernaut team, lead by Jim Harbaugh who is a proven leader, knowledgable about the game, driven beyond belief, focused, disciplined, involved, principled....and lets not forget a proven WINNER who bleeds maize and blue. The perfect hire at the right time if it would have been done. However, he certainly would have upstaged the current UM CEO because at the end of the day, Jim Harbaugh would have told Brandon what to do; and would have let winning on the field be the best marketing program for UM. Jim believes in THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM AS THE ONLY PRIORITY. But Brandon could not have controlled him; the did not hire.
PERFORMANCE BASED METRICS:
The final part is always the most devilsh because its within the details we find the coffin nails. UM's CEO can always point to the Profit Loss Statement and say "...... look at how much money we made....." And it would be true probably......but as any good UM CEO would do he has to also look at the Balance Sheet listing those Assets and pesky Liabilities......... No Big Ten Championship, continuous losses to rivals MSU/OSU, mediocre W/L records, chicken little songs only to be followed by a 31-0 drubbing, failed no. 98 marketing scheme to revive the faithful, etc.......... And lets not leave out the fan's feedback because they are the customer......and the customer sentiment is that they dont like the product and want different results ... Simple enough but the UM CEO is not listening to the customer which is a classic CEO mistake. He is so high in his mind's ivory tower he cannot hear the customer . Worse yet, his minons are too scared to tell him the truth.......so as a customer let me tell him.......Hey Brandon you as UM KING aren't wearing any clothes...the performance of your product is terrible and your 'yes man VP, Hoke, is doing a terrible job. You own this car wreck. Make a plan which leads to a solution. If you cant make a plan leading to a solution, quit.
POSITION WANTED:
Head Coach: proven winning track record.....must have extensive head-set experience.
AD: smart, insightful, educated......must place THE TEAM before his/her own ego.
Hoke and Brandon, the self appointed keepers of the Bo flame, are destroying the program even further......so much so, it will take a new coach (and AD) years to repair the damage done. As you stand back and look analytically Brandon and Hoke have turned UM football priorities into a gimmick driven monster rather than a focus driven winning football team.
Remember .....THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM !!!!!!!!!! Now its who's wearing what number, chicken little songs and combo packages for unsold tickets........thats what you get when you hire a corporate CEO as an AD. Brandon's priority is the Profit Loss statement, rather than THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM. I can only imagine what Bo would say about the current state of UM football as Brandon prioritizes his special corporate marketing approach above THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM.
Folks at some point UM fans have to come to terms with the fact Brandon loves Hoke because Hoke will never upstage Brandon. Brandon's ego hired someone who bled maize and blue; and happened to be mediocre. He did this because he wanted to.........So get used to the mediocrity because Hoke is never going anywhere as long as Brandon is AD.
Brandon's ego will not allow him to admit," it " made a huge mistake in hiring Hoke. Hoke cant help being a mediocre coach; thats who he is......... Now, comes the sanity check of what I am saying. Imagine Jim Harbaugh being hired four years ago. He was at the top of CFB with a Stanford jaggernaut. Jim is a man that bleds maize and blue; knows footbal top to bottom; proven leader; proven winnerl; driven to put THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM FIRST, and would have told Brandon what to do at the end of the day.......oh, and he would have let winning games be the best marketing tool for UM.
What both of these short sighted dopes dont realize is the fans dont care about chicken little songs or what numbers players wear (btw, gardner never earned the right to wear no. 98), fans and I have to believe UM coaches care about THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM....but Brandon's ego wont let them put the team first
that line ......its too close for comfort because its within striking distance. But its a reflection of a lack of confidence in UM that wont go away. With Hoke and Brandon as official self appointed keeps of the Bo flame I afraid the line for the majority of our schedule is going to be under 7 with a few games as the underdog (MSU/OSU)
