You mean other than the incompletions that were thrown to Northwestern DBs and LBs that they dropped?
I'm usually pretty defensive of Gardner, but I was pretty disappointed in his throwing today.

By Brian's second screenshot after the snap, Bryant and Schofield are already a full yard past the LOS.
So yes, it was a serious question, but meant to be somewhat rhetorical. If the line doesn't even have to check in order to run the screen, that's all the more reason that Borges is being an idiot by refusing to run it.

I believe, sums up the reason Borges should not coach for Michigan after this year.

Or would they get too far downfield?

but in the interest of playing devil's advocate to myself, I'll bring up a bit of "on the brightside":
Last year, Notre Dame and Ohio State both struggled against Purdue (whom we dominated 44-13). Both teams went on to undefeated regular seasons.
There are definitely things our team needs to improve on this season; but I encourage everyone to maintain hope that they will indeed improve on them.

4 touchdowns with successful PATs, and then the refs award 4 points for Gibbons' Michigan-record-breaking 15th consecutive FG.

Denard is reading the corner over Roundtree. At the mesh point, the corner has taken a couple shuffle-steps out and has his eyes on Roundtree. Denard reads that as coverage, and hands off. By the time Roundtree sees that the pass is a no go, it's too late for a block because the corner actually did bite on the run (he moved in to contain the pitch-man) and is two steps past him.
The pass would have worked (especially if the wideout gets a good block on the safety) but at the point where Denard had to make that decision, it looked more like an interception waiting to happen.

I like where AJ's head is at, giving Michigan props for academics above all. But I think his words got mixed up in the moment.
Michigan is not the #14 public school in the nation.
We're the #14 university overall, and the #1 public university. Oh yeah, and that' in the world.

The defense was actually pretty damn good. What hurt was that pretty much every play they gave up was a 3rd or 4th and long.

I bet Ms. Bruton would also appreciate the Slaughterhouse Five reference, too.

After the first few games, Denard and Borges made a ton of comments about him not setting his feet right; feet, feet, feet. Based on this, it seemed he was being trained to focus perhaps too much on it.
Imagine him looking to throw and just thinking "set your feet, set your feet" when what he needed to be thinking about was "OMG triple-coverage, checkdown..." or "tuck and run."
Now I can't imagine the Gardner shared-time is helping. You're right. I don't think he wants to be a running back and he's desperate to prove he can throw. The worse it turns out, the more he'll feel he needs to throw and the deadly spiral continues.
