What is the benefit of a contract extension for Michigan if the increased buyout doesn't happen until after NFL hiring season? Harbaugh needs to be willing to give on that, in exchange for support against the NCAA.
Does he slide down to the hybrid db/safety/lb role this year to replace Sainristil? Seems like the best way to sell him on increasing his draft stock and getting QJ and Paige to come back
Dude is smart - knows how to create a bidding war. “Pay me - or not only am I not coming, I’m going to your rival”
I’m not even mad, guy is playing the NIL game perfectly. Unfortunately, I doubt we win that bidding war… hope being a Harvard guy he values education too
The worst no call was the snap infraction on Maryland's last tush push. After everyone was set, center moved the ball forward into the endzone, ref even stepped in to move it backwards instead of throwing the flag. That's a 5yd penalty, and tush push is no longer in play.
NCAA won't exist in 3-5 years - the B1G is trying their hardest to join them.
With all the lawsuits happening, there is only going to be a 20 team super league of schools that can afford to still pay players as employees after then pay a couple hundred million in settlements.
Legal strategies don’t get leaked without the leak being the strategy. Michigan leaked they were gonna go scorched earth if Harbaugh was suspended, B1G backed down.
I know it's the NCAA and legalities don't matter... but I think Michigan lawyers would have a field day with the NCAA trying to enforce a rule put in place this past offseason to hold a head coach responsible for acts that are (at least mostly, allegedly) prior to that rule being in place.
Which is why I never understood the obsession with protected rivalries... Obviously more teams were going to join the B1G, it was just a question of when. So don't try to make the permanent perfect schedule, make something that works for the next few years then reevaluate.
This post should've waited until camp starts.. this feels like how your jinx some Pat Fitzgerald type stuff into fruition and Harbaugh gets fired in the next week.
Michigan meant a ton to me while I attended and graduated, but I’ve since gone on to get a job… My first employer meant a lot to me for giving me an opportunity, I’ve since changed jobs to make more $.
Hunter doesn’t have an NBA future, anyone blaming him for trying to make the most $ he can in his final year(s) of eligibility is an idiot.
He honestly shouldn't have even contacted her... While ethically it seems like the right thing to do, this is how you accidently get yourself into meddling in the investigation.
Kind of like Izzo moving Payne/Appling out of their dorm after the accusations. Seems like it would be good to separate them from the alleged victim at the time, but it also screwed up the Title IX investigation process.
It sucks, but honestly this probably gets the sport more publicity on First Take, Get Up, etc Monday morning than if it hadn’t happened. This is the same kind of stuff that normally gets talked about for the NFL, NBA, etc.
I think their issue was with the word "give". I don't give my plumber money, I pay him. I don't give the grocery store money, I pay them.
If NIL was truly people gifting/giving money, then it wouldn't be taxable up to $12M from each contributor. We are paying players to be good at football while playing for a team we support.
Michigan basketball should just lean into having traditional bigs like football did with the run game. Imagine having Edey and Dickinson on the floor at the same time... Can't double them both.
And the transfers have been playing all year, so the teams should be ranked accordingly... they didn't buy players just for March.
Might be worth analyzing in the future though, if team's with less experience at their current school (freshmen and transfers) perform better later in the year.
Too many people seems to think CTE is an NFL issue.
Average NFL career length is about 3 years, but that same player played football for 8-9 years between HS and college prior to that taking similar hits. And with less medical staff to pull players from a game when they do get concussions...
Since you seem to do these daily, and they are a really helpful guide, just a suggestion that it might be nice to add an update on the previous day's results vs rooting interest.
Maybe not requiring people who want to participate to have/use Discord causing them to go rogue until week 3... they had the orders website last year, no reason not to use it this year.
That blew it from the beginning, could've had multiple regions and dominated.
Hunter's play is directly correlated to the officiating. He got labeled "All-American" and refs stopped calling fouls. Tarris Reed goes in, gets the same contact, but they actually call the foul.
I really wonder if we’re gonna hear about a covid outbreak soon… after playing NW.
I’ve never seen so many bad passes, thinking lanes are there that aren’t, missing passes into the post by like 5ft, etc. The only time I can remember being “off” like that playing sports was when I was sick. Dug, Jace, and Kobe all seemed off.
We don’t need a whole new program, we need a couple agreements from the AD and large boosters.
I watched Harbaugh sit court-side at the Lipscomb game next to a billionaire. Do I think that was because he wanted to watch a meaningless basketball game while there was CFP to be prepped for? No…
And it’s not fact that Davis was negatively effected by Harbaugh’s flirtation. In fact, there was another crystal ball made in favor of Michigan since the negotiations.
If you're going to blame Harbaugh for Davis not committing because of the NFL flirtation (when he had already been delaying a decision since October/November), then you also need to give Harbaugh credit for Corum, Zinter, CJ, Keegan, Sainristil, Barrett all coming back. He used that flirtation to get changes in NIL that likely influenced them coming back.

Who's the Honigford tackle that's sliding down the depth chart and wants to lose 30 pounds this offseason?

-250 to stay at Michigan on DK.
Gone down slightly in the last couple days, but by all means go take Vegas’s money if you think they don’t know better.
That’s not what that means anymore…
+1672 parlay for Georgia, Ok St, and Louisville to win.
So about 50/50 they think aOSU makes it in if all that happens

They’re borderline, I’m guessing their boosters shell out to be included.
Guaranteed: Michigan, OSU, Penn State, Nebraska, ND, USC, Oregon, UCLA, Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, Bama, Florida, FSU, Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee
Questionable: MSU, Washington, Iowa, Wisconsin, Clemson, NC, A&M, Miami
As it get’s more expensive to keep college football going, I think the top schools are going to want to push the bottom feeders out.

If the B1G succeeds, I fully expect Jim to spend the rest of his career working with Tom Mars to bring down the B1G and NCAA.

Something illegal doesn’t just become legal because someone else committed the crime and gave it to you.

Clemson seems like a "hey ND, we are about to ruin your half conference association"
Then we swap ND in when they come begging.

I might be in the minority here, but I also feel like SE Michigan is fake midwest… which is why I like living here
Use CamelCamelCamel.com to check if things are actually a deal, or if they just marked up the price 50% before taking 33% off.

Isn't that kind of the problem with OSU's OL the last few years? They've been having tackles play guard...

If there is one position we have a case for NIL... they can probably share the $ Corum got to come back this year.
Does 247 manually update cool-warm-hot interest for recruits for each school? I would think it would be a formula based on crystal balls/time...
Really annoying when recruits are listed as "cool" for all schools so they just list alphabetically.
247 shows all schools as "cool", but if you look through the list of schools and see which others have recruiters listed next to them:
Kentucky - Steve Clinkscale
Michigan - Bellamy, Moore
That's the whole list... I like our chances.
He also play in a segregated SEC... calling that D1 is questionable

They…
It's a win-win
They actually win, you get to go to a more enjoyable game.
They lose, they help cement themselves as a bottom 3 team in the league to maximize lottery %s.

I cashed out my Chiefs to win it all bet I made preseason...
Was offered to double my money, when the Chiefs were like 12-3, which seemed about as expected, so I took it.
Correct, Chris Balas is once again wrong. Corum has come out and said it was a gift from his parents after HS, not NIL funded.

He’s quiet quitting lol just playing to the quality of his NIL

Recruiting isn't just about HS commitment anymore, establishing a relationship may help if that recruit hits the portal in a couple years.
