A lot of my friends are primary care docs and I went through similar training. And coming from the perspective of a primary care doctor ( and this is very important to remember - for the SAME amount of money, not MORE) :
- really spend time with patients and their problems
- and NOT have to spend an average of 20 minutes per patient filling out insurance and billing forms
Or
- see 5x as many patients
- insurance paperwork on every patient you see justifying the less than 15 minutes you spent with them
A lot of docs are thinking this gets them back to why they went into medicine.
And primary care is soon to be replaced by Dr.Amazon, Dr. Google and Dr.Watson from IBM a lot sooner than people think...
Reprogramming a cell to grow into something else is the basis for most cancers. I wonder how they were able to control the growth? Then how did they turn off the mutagenesis? Did the cells continue to produce the new cell line or were they reprogrammed back? 1 set of genetic alterations is risky, 2 would increase the risk by multiples.
Still very cool though...I hope we can have nice things
Either are fine as long as your friend makes sure they have a procedural specialty. Doctors who don't have procedures have about a 10 year lifespan before they are replaced by computer algorithms such as IBMs Watson. Strangely enough, radiologists paved the way for this technology.
Doctors should really be following where money is being invested in the health care field. I graduated from UM's Med school and this is the area that I work on.
hey, is there anywhere to watch the game online? I'm 1/2 way around the world and it will be on at 3 am and the "local" channels don't carry it. They also have never heard of ABC, buts that's both a plus and a minus
I have it on first hand authority that the Surgical and Medical Residents at the Univeristy of Michigan Hospital are far exceeding the 80 hour workweek guidelines as recommended by the Resident Review Committee. Exceeding these limitations can lead to penalities and loss of accreditation of the residency* Just who the F$&% do they think they are? I mean what excuse do they have for spending all that time learning?
I also have several friends who were Michigan State D.O.s and they said they always stayed well within the guidelines.
