I predict they will stop sucking as soon as they aren't so young anymore and develop some badly needed chemistry.

Well the good news is now I know who JMFJ is. I missed him getting that moniker.

Interestingly enough down here in Ohio the news of Lindsay's committment has caused barely a ripple of excitement. It was mentioned, briefly, on Cleveland.com "Urban lands Alabama Graduate Center" and didnt even warrant mentioning on ESPNCleveland.com.
Rich getting richer and all that I suppose.

I think you missed my point. I did not say who I'd rather "win more games" I asked who you thought would win more games. Clearly I want Hoke to win this contest and win big but when I look at the two respective programs it's hard for me to feel optimism for our future and it's hard not to think they are on an upward trajectory.
A big part of this, for me, anyways, comes from the frustration of Rich being given a budget to hire assistants less than 1/2 of what Hoke has been given and my wondering "what if" Rich had been given the same hand to play. I know RR can coach up an offense and now I know he has zero clue on what to do defensively. So if he had a d coordinator that didnt have as his qualification "willing to coach defense for food" sign up I wonder where we'd be right now. And it pisses me off to no end to think we're back in the same basic hole we dug for ourselves with Rich by not giving him an assistant budget worth a shit now with Hoke. It makes me mad (sorry) cause i think we wouldve fared much, much better from 2008-2010 with a competent Dcoordinator and certainly now if that regime hadnt been taken out so we could get a "Michigan man" in place.
|17 hours 53 min ago||If you had to choose between||
If you had to choose between Brady Hoke at Michigan or Rich Rodriguez at Arizona and there was a prize where you got to collect $100 for each game they won at their respective schools starting in 2014 season and continuing until they either got fired, quit or retired from that school but you could only choose Hoke at Michigan or Rich at Arizona who would you "bet" on?
I'd take Rich in a heartbeat.

It's really not as difficult as you might think. Sort of like when I quit smoking in 2008 after some 25 years or so of the habit. The emotional drain the team took on me over the past 6 years or so (and ESPECIALLY last year's PSU game) killed a part of me that was very passionate about Michigan football for a very, very long time.
It doesnt matter nearly as much to me as it once did. Which is why giving up my tickets this year wasnt hard at all.

my wife wants to know why i'm laughing right now. So I read your comment to her and she looks about as confused as you can imagine.
She thinks I've lost my mind I'm sure.

You are definitely in my personal "top five" favorite posters PurpleStuff. You and think quite a bit alike but you put things so much nicer and more eloquently than i generally do.
|1 day 1 hour ago||I know. I just play "what||
I know. I just play "what if" in my mind and imagine our program in year six of Rich's offense with a competent defense and what that would mean. I watched Arizona this year and it made me sad for what could've been.
I'm tired of being the nail. I want to go back to being the hammer again like we were from 1969 to 2006. These last 8 years for the most part (with the exception of 2011) have SUCKED.
|1 day 1 hour ago||Disruptive because he's sort||
Disruptive because he's sort of good and doesnt get knocked backwards when he comes off the line you mean? I could see where that type of thing would make the other fellows feel awful what with him moving forward and making everyone look bad.
|1 day 1 hour ago||The ripple effects of Bill||
The ripple effects of Bill Martin's refusal to give Rich a lousy 100K to bring Casteel over just keep spreading wider and wider across the pond now don't they. Simply amazing to me, in retrospect, how negatively impactful that one decision has been across the program since it was made 6 years ago. I really wonder what the team would've looked like back then (and now) with a half-way competent defense to support Rich's offense and moments like these really make me sad it didnt happen.
We'll never know.

Lately I have been having the same sick feeling I had when I watched Wisconsin run the ball on 37 of their last 38 plays in 2010 (and the last 32 in a row BTW). I remember thinking this is what it must be like like to literally watch the wheels come off the wagon. I remember thinking Rich was doomed and we had nowhere to go but downhill fast.
It's starting to feel like that again to me.

That was a nice piece but I have to ask you about one point you made.
"Right now Hoke is projecting to look more like Kirk Ferentz -- and while that's far better than where Rodriguez seemed to be going in his third year, it's not exactly Heaven for Michigan fans."
Rich was on an upward arc - Brady's heading down.

Why not? Even when they had a coach & a GM the Pistons themselves only pretended to know what to do.

I'll take Rutgers and only 20 points - not the 24 line you predict. Easy money for you it would seem.
How much would you like to wager?

You have absolutely nailed it from my perspective PurpleStuff.
|1 day 23 hours ago||I published the first one||
I published the first one which was basically a rant on the craptastic team we were fielding and questioned the cost of the tickets relative to the results. The second one I did not publish (I still have it though I'm sure) which was a much stronger written letter asking why I should have to pay a premium via seat licencing and face value for tickets for the "priviledge" of my seats each year. Both of my first two were sent directly to Brandon himself. My third was inside my season ticket survey response which I was unable to save before sending. None of these warranted even a "thank you for writing" response from the Athletic Department and in all three I rattled my "I'm really going to cancel these" threat.
As you may remember other posters get a bit testy with me during that time on this topic so I tried to back off commenting on the subject and didnt see any point in rehashing it any further with a thread topic. People clearly knew where i stood and lots of posters were getting pissed at me for beating the drum as loud and long as I did. I'm only chiming in now cause posts like these and the one from Friday on the emails sent to students indicate I wasnt alone in my frustrations and angst.
|2 days 1 hour ago||I love your letter. But||
I love your letter. But given that i wrote not one, not two but three "I am so freaking pissed off right now I am seriously considering cancelling my 25 years of season tickets support" and got zero response I wouldnt hold your breath on getting a reply.
But your letter is better.....WAY better than anything I scribed.

|2 days 4 hours ago||I could not agree with what||
I could not agree with what you wrote any stronger. Everything you said I think should've been done (if it wasnt and I have no way of knowing other than the results on the field would seem to indicate they didnt).
And I love the "fire Al Borges on the spot and have him taken away by helicopter". I wish I had an upvote plus or something to give out on posts like yours. It warrants more than one IMO.
|2 days 5 hours ago||Me||
OMG that's hillarious. You're absolutely right.
|2 days 5 hours ago||Sure it's painful. And yes||
Sure it's painful. And yes it's difficult. I know this first hand as I've both done it and also taken the course that Brady did and regretted it after the fact - just like Brady does now.
But I'd argue not nearly as painful or difficult as 7-6 with losses to MSU, PSU, Nebraska, OSU and a butt-kicking in a third-tier bowl game because we didnt come close to winning the B1G.
|2 days 6 hours ago||While I'm definitely||
While I'm definitely encouraged to see Hoke taking steps to remedy the situation now - can somebody please explain why he either chose to ignore the issue last year or was oblivious to it while it was going on? I dont really see a third option for him here - either he knew it was happening and did nothing about it or he wasnt aware it was occuring and to me at least, neither of those choices give me a great deal of confidence in him right now.

Agreed. Sadly, now all Hoke can poop these days is....
|4 days 6 hours ago||You've made the point several||
You've made the point several times in different threads that you think people like me are somehow "happy" that things arent going well and for the life of me I dont understand why you think that. The fact that we are pissed off over shitty play, a crappy schedule and insane pricing doesnt make us happy in the least. It just means we've chosen a different path and are now electing to not purchase season tickets. I have yet to see even one person post that they are giving up on the team or the school - rather they are giving up on SEASON TICKETS and supporting Michigan does not madate one be a season ticket holder.
Can you point to any comment made by anybody that shows even a glimmer of joy about the state we are in? Remember, to give up one's season tickets one had to be buying them in the first place. Not exactly something a person would do if they didnt care deeply about the program. I think you are confusing the emotion over here. Cause as I read it - the ex-season ticket holders are anything but happy over the state of affairs right now.
|4 days 21 hours ago||What makes you think Devin||
What makes you think Devin needs a fire lit under his ass? Is he not working hard enough for your tastes?
I find this whole thing ridiculous and unneccesary. I don't remember any Senior QB who wasnt the defacto starter in Spring. I may be wrong but do any of the other old-timers remember Bo declaring that Franklin, Leach, Wangler, Smith, Harbaugh or Taylor "might" start their Senior year? The only one of these that I recall was the Brady/Henson QB time share and that wasn't under Bo's watch.
It might be simply "coach-speak" but if I was Devin I'd be pretty pissed unless Morris is just playing lights out and killing it in practice. Cause nothing I saw in the Copper Bowl or Spring Game would indicate there's even a shred of doubt who's the better QB.
