Old South Scoreboard

As a band alumnus and one who always entered the stadium from the North, on the back of the old South Endzone Scoreboard there was a screen through the block M. I never saw it on, thus my question. What would the screen say on gameday? Michigan? Go Blue? the score? I always found it interesting that it was embedded in the South scoreboard but not the north.

Having speakers in both

Reply to UMxWolverine:

Having speakers in both scoreboards would be a nightmare. The sound waves will distort each other. As well, since DB made an effort in the BIG to allow the amplification of the marching band, the MMB's sound is being pumped through the speakers, adding speakers to the south scoreboard would be hell due to the three different places the sound is coming from.

They are suppose to be moving

They are suppose to be moving the band this year to above the tunnel (the current tunnel not the PDC tunnel). Maybe that means the maize rage will fill in the seats there as well. Time will tell.

My freshman year, a guy down

A guy who lived down the hall from me in the dorms freshman year was on the club team. I know they taped their helmets. From the pictures they look painted, especially when you look at the vents...

In other news were you a trumpet in the MMB? If so, what year did you graduate? I've always wondered because of your avatar.

That would just make sense.

That would just make sense. And in the world of the NCAA not many things make sense.

Not only is it tragic that 7

Not only is it tragic that 7 people are dead over this crazed guy, but this is tragic for the entire city of Grand Rapids. GR looked like it had began to shake the bad rap it had been getting since the Rob Bliss lipdub video. Now people aren't going to want to go back. Unfortunate for the families involved as well as the entire city. My thoughts and prayers go out to those involved in this tragedy.

Ahhh finally, I can play

Ahhh finally, I can play something other than Halo Reach...

Gold Cup Final

Does anyone know if this will be on any of the espn networks? If not I'll settle for univision and the announcer who can hold out "gol" for what seems like eternity.

Ahhh... I looked at it from a

Ahhh... I looked at it from a different angle. I was watching the mark directly on Dempsey and not the mark on Donovan. If thats what your saying then I believe you are correct. Initially it looked like Dempsey's mark was the second to last defender but now it looks otherwise...

I don't quite understand

I don't quite understand having Magglio anymore. Who knows maybe now his foot/ankle will be better and he can bat. Let me preface this all by saying Magglio has had one hell of a career and is a veteran with a veteran bat and a career average .300 hitter. HOWEVER, as Mclintock posted, last year Boesch hit better against lefties than righties. Now, we've all come down from the Boesch high that was the beginning of the season last year but I like seeing Boesch infront of Cabrera over Magglio. With all that being said, Magglio had a pretty good night tonight and when I say pretty good I mean well above average 2-4 with 2 runs scored an RBI and a walk, I just think theres a different place for him in the lineup other than the 3-spot. Where? I have no idea. We have more outfielders than we know what to do with.

Now in terms of Phil Coke, I don't see us having any other option for a 5-spot starter right now. But I agree with many people above that he is much more lethal out of the pen in the middle innings.

For the Tigers to seriously contend for the Central Division they need to clear up who's going to be on: 2nd base (and it better not be Ryan "oops i dropped the ball" Raburn as well as a good 5 starter and move Coke back to the pen.

I'm just glad Dempsey wasn't

I'm just glad Dempsey wasn't flagged on an offside call. My initial reaction was he was off by a hair. Granted I haven't really inspected the video of the goal but it was close....

EDIT: after further review, I definitely believe he was offside and for once the soccer god's gave the US a break. phew...

there is a little difference

there is a little difference between running and lock-step... go out and try and last a day in the MMB's shoes in August or at all during the season and then we can see who will be talking afterwards. A majority of the MMB were athletes as well as musicians in high school... Don't talk shit unless you want to back it up...

Please. God. No.

Please. God. No.

last 10 games

surprisingly enough in the last 10 games the tigers are 8-2. Needless to say Texas is 7-3 and the rest of the Al varies from 6-4 to 4-6 (Cleveland is 3-7...ouch!). With all that being said I'd like to see Sherzer settle down, he's been on and off for the last month. However, I'm liking SOME parts of the bullpen:  Albuequerque, Benoit, Furbush, Valverde. I just wish they found a good 5 spot starter and would move Phil Coke back to the bullpen, I think he's a hell of a lot more lethal and his stuff is sharper in a few innings than in a start. But thats just my opinion.

The whole point of the

The whole point of the video was to show newsweek that GR isn't a "dying American city." This was organized by a guy named Rob Bliss who is not a major film maker. Along with that, the people in it are residents of the city of Grand Rapids showing their support and love for their city. How isn't it well planned if a 9 minute video is shot continously without edits...??? So if you want to call it cheesy fine, but keep in mind it wasn't meant to be the next blockbuster hit. It is a youtube video to show support for a city so many are proud to call their home.

It's interesting to see how

It's interesting to see how much ESPN loves to hate Michigan. It seems they get more publicity and more ratings the more they put down Michigan. If they aren't hating Michigan they completely ignore all of Michigan's success'. Not like ESPN matters but I wonder day in and day out whats schools pay ESPN for ESPN to make them 'look good'. Obviously tOSU and the entire SEC.

who's home

If this has already been discussed I appologize. However, is it official that Michigan is home? not only does that look better for the team (Blue Jerseys) but the band as well. If Michigan's home they get to run their full pregame...

The send off offense was for

The send off offense was for the player kicking the ball at the Akron player on the ground. In soccer, the ball is an extension of the body when not during play. Meaning, the red card was for violent conduct since the it was not while the ball was in play.

My only fear for Tate as we My only fear for Tate as we saw last year is his height difficulties. According to Mgoblue Forcier is listed at 6'1", 188 pounds. I walked past him on campus earlier this week and myself being 5'11" (5'10" but I like to round up), what I saw was Tate is a very short 6'1". What I'm trying to get to is his difficulty seeing downfield while in the pocket trying to look over his approx. 6'4" OL. Thusly, last year he was required to roll out quite a bit and many times was killed by LB's. How does he cope with his average height and slender build?
In all of this what happens In all of this what happens to Devin Gardner? I understand that because he couldn't enroll early that left his uphill climb to learn the offense to be much more difficult. Therefore, does RR redshirt Gardner this year? Or does he allow him to start learning and maybe use him to fight for the starting spot with Tate? And with Gardner enrolling does that push Robinson from away from ever playing QB -- so does he move to a slot receiver or WR?
The game of football is a The game of football is a matter of inches, its time to take this one back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4ZtcHd0-CA
The only trick play I've seen The only trick play I've seen come out of RR is where the offensive line stands still, confusing the defensive line, and hoping that Threet (last year) or Tate this year can "gun" the ball down the field to a streaking WR. With that being sad, every time Michigan ran this play last year and the few times this year, it's failed pretty miserably.
Special teams has been Special teams has been outstanding this year. Any ideas why almost every punt return has resulted in a fair catch? Are we still a little afraid of botched punt returns just like those that plagued us all last year?
Injury report Any news on Forcier and his shoulder? I heard he was in a sling. Just precautionary?
KO returns vs. Punt returns Does anyone have any idea why Greg Mathews took every punt return as a fair catch on Saturday? I can understand in the midst of last years ungodly amount of botched punt returns he may feel safer in just completing the fair catch. It seems to be a reoccurring trend this season. This is such a small part of the game however, a punt return would add another notch to the special teams belt. Any ideas? or am i just being overly critical?
current MMB member #3 You have to remember that the band is very directional. Meaning, acoustically its impossible for the band to play to each and every person throughout the stadium. Also, you have you to remember that 110,000 people absorb ALOT of sound. As the season continues we will have time to play all the "other" favorites: Livin' On A Prayer, Don't Stop Believin', Black Dog/Kashmir, etc.

Also, you have you to remember that 110,000 people absorb ALOT of sound. The band does all they can do to play loud, they play soo much throughout the day that physically they tire. Luckily enough the towers help reverberate the sound. No matter what they are still the band with the best fight song.
