Message boards are better on The Fort.  Recruiting rankings are better on 247.

Both sites give a fair bit of recruiting updates/program info.

Overall I like The Fort better and use 247 to look up players, etc.

I don't use Rivals at all anymore.

Thanks for posting!!  So fun…

Thanks for posting!!  So fun to watch that style of football.  Every time a defender made contact with an OSU player, it was vicious and purposeful.  I love that intensity!!  We had some MEN on that D-line.

Edited for Marvin, the brilliant spellchecker!

Perspective You know, the kids can quit if they don't like it. They don't have to work hard and earn a career in the NFL if they don't want to. I'm pretty sure I played like 10 baseball games over spring break week for 4 years in high school. Come on man. Playing college ball is a privilege. If you don't want to give it your all, there are 100,000 other boys who would give anything for the opportunity. Thank goodness we are recruiting the kind of kids who understand that.
Not going to happen per this link...

Blocked from anyone on 2016 schedule.

Notre Dame played in the NC Notre Dame played in the NC game a couple years ago and they weren't any good, so I'd say it is possible, although highly unlikely.

WHAT ABOUT ME?

Worried for Lions

My goodness...how did #25 get drafted?  I was watching the film first and I thought #25 was Lyons and I was thinking to myself "This guy is terrible, he plays 12 yards off the ball, and doesn't swing his arms when we runs.  This guy isn't going to play for Michigan and is a downgrade from countess.  #2 looks really good.  I wish we were getting him."  And then I read your clarification...

My assessment...Lyons will be a man-corner upgrade over Countess.  He's fast and stays on his man's hip pocket.  Seemed to have a little but of trouble shedding blocks from what I could see in the UCLA gametape.  We are going to have a very good secondary barring any injuries.

It's probably not far off.

It's probably not far off.  Chem E's where I'm at are starting off making somewhere between 110-120k.  Petroleum Engineers are more rare and with the recent boom, I can believe the numbers.  Not to mention, there arent a whole lot of people who want to move to SE Ohio/PA or North Dakota, so it takes more money to get them there.

The difference between

The difference between Petroleum Eng and Chem Eng is that Petroleum Engineers specialize in getting oil out of the ground.  Chem Es specialize in the refining process.  Being in St. Clairsville, he is right in the heart of the fracking, which is the "taking it out of the ground" part, and probably why he is interested.  The only refinery in the area is in Canton, and that is where I work. I am an Mechanical Engineer.  In general, the Chem E's make about 5-10k more than MEs.  ME's make more than EEs and Civils, but not by much.  If he wants to major in Petroleum Engineering, you will probably find him at a school in Texas, most likely A&M.

Not to be a dick, but isn't

Not to be a dick, but isn't your line of thinking going a LITTLE too far?  I wasn't aware it took someone an entire off season to recover from a concussion.  I could be wrong, I'm not a doctor.  This is a legitimate question.

How long before concussions in football make it to the political agenda to be discussed in Presidential debates as a social issue?

I mean, I get it, let's make things safe, but come on.

Good point, if he was going Good point, if he was going to choose he bruins, why would he do it at 5:30 AM? Not sure if that's where you were going with that.

Whoops.

I concur saveferris, (c) is

I concur saveferris, (c) is the correct answer and it took me way to long to figure that out.

I think it's having a

I think it's having a positive effect.  We have realized we need to hire Jim Harbaugh if we expect to beat OSU and win National Championships.  It's all in how you look at it.

Ehh, Braylon dropped A LOT of

Ehh, Braylon dropped A LOT of passes.  He also made a lot of awesome grabs at key moments.  He had a higher percentage to catch a 30 yard fade than he did a 5 yard hitch.

I'd take Miles under the

I'd take Miles under the assumption we get top-flight coordinators, with one of them being groomed to be the future HC.

JH is obviously my #1.

I can't say I'm sad.

I can't say I'm sad.  Talented but lazy.  Do not need that type of "leadership" on the team.

Agree, egos and $$$.  If ppl

Agree, egos and $$$.  If ppl are watching JH in Ann Arbor, that means money isn't going into any NFL pockets.

I think this is somewhat

I think this is somewhat true, but in reality none of us really knows what the differences are.  Football in the NFL might be more X'snO's oriented, but does that really make it more desireable?  That depends on the person.  Think of it form the working world perspective, it just depends on what you like to do.  Some people prefer geeky in the weeds engineering (I'm an engineer, but don't prefer it) and others prefer the high level 30,000 feet view on business or operations.

All that being said, I think JH likes teaching and turning boys into men the way Bo did.  If you watch the JH youtube video on work ethics, I think that becomes pretty evident.

I agree - it's really to

I agree - it's really to everyone affiliated with Michigan if you ask me.  If you think about it, there is really nothing good that can come from disagreeing with whoever the next coach is.  Might as well get behind them.

Give them their due

It is true that one game will never be "proof" that someone or a team is or isn't.  But heck, let's give Arizona their due here.  Saying Oregon had a ravaged OL means nothing to me.  Having depth is part of being a good football team, because every team occurs injuries during the course of the season.  I would also say that Oregon's speed based offense overmatched MSU size and strength based B1G defense (which is a fallacy in itself because Narduzzi does what he does based on speed & agressiveness), so the argument regarding "fit" is not accurate.

Simple

It's called "the straw that broke the camel's back" - it really has nothing to do with Utah - it was everything else leading up to it

Agree, but it's all really

Agree, but it's all really tough to say after Week 2.  At this point last year, I thought MSU was going to be terrible, and look what happened.  It's a long season and a lot can change.

The good news, our Pass D was weak, and fortunately for us, the Big Ten isn't slated to be a very pass happy conference.  So we'll see.

If our team would have

If our team would have responded to that, it would have been all over ESPN without showing the cheap shot on Garder and said something ot the effect of "Wolverines clearly frustrated at being embarrassed at final outing with Irish."

Agree with this post.  I

Agree with this post.  I think it should also be pointed out that Devin was calm and collected until we got down 21-0 and had to press.  That is when he reverted to the Devin of last year.  The one that had to do everything because he had no help.  I don't think the offense we have is designed to come back from a 21-0 deficit.  The game was truly a perfect storm.

Yeah - I will tell her that

Yeah - I will tell her that right after I tell her I got her diamond at a Discount! LOL.  Afterall, this is the one place I can actually write something down and be confident she will not see it!

This hits the nail on the

This hits the nail on the head!  If I tried to take her on the dune climb, she might murder me before we got the lakeshore.  Was looking for something similar, but the shorter version.  Privacy was also a concern.  We are renting a lake house in Omena for the weekend and both of our immediate families will be there.  Was planning on pulling off somewhere on the way up to do it before we got to the lake house.

I was also considered getting it out of the way before we even left but I think thanks to everyone's replies, it will be best to find a spot on the way up.  If anyone has any other specific short hikes/pull off spots with a view, I would appreciate the input.  Thanks and sorry for hijacking the thread!

Proposing to my girlfriend in

Proposing to my girlfriend in Leelanau Peninsula - any advice?

I went to school at

I went to school at Toledo....worse.  But agree...still can't justify paying for a UM degree.

Agreed.

Agreed.

Coach Z - I whole heartedly

Coach Z - I whole heartedly agree with your comments.  Most coaches go to clinics or have a more senior coach teach them the drills/schemes that the teach to the kids.  I would also say the intangibles that often make kids great players are often the most difficult to teach.  That is why a lot of great players are not great coaches.  Instinct cannot be taught in my opinion.  Technique can.

Agreed!

Have my mechanical engineering degree as well.  Going back to get my MBA at tOSU because it's where I'm stuck at for work and it's the best business school in Ohio.  In my classes we have kids from school like Carnegie Mellon, Minnesota, PSU, and yes, even U of M.  Most of us are there becase it's the best school within our geograhpic limitations at the time. When you get a little older and realize that rankings aren't all they are cracked up to be, you realize that there isn't really that much of a difference between #10 and #25.  At the end of the day, Universities preach capitalistic ideals, and they also practice them too.  It's a lot about marketing and creating revenues.

Also, it's more about choosing the school with the best program, rather than the institution itself.  Most state schools are pretty easy to get into if you want to do general studies or communications; it's getting into the progams that is the tough part.  I'm not all that impressed with a general degree from U of M.

That being said, I think going to any Big Ten school is an accomplishment you could be proud of.  By the way, did you know that Max Fisher (tOSU Fisher School of Business) is Stephen Ross' uncle? Apples don't fall far my friends...

NCAA Rules

f. Numerals. Clearly visible, permanent Arabic numerals on one jersey at

least 8 and 10 inches in height front and back, respectively, of a color(s)

in distinct contrast with the jersey. All players of a team shall have the

same color and style numbers front and back. The individual bars must

be approximately 1-1/2 inches wide. Numbers on any part of the uniform

shall correspond with the mandatory front and back jersey numbers.

My point here is that these jersey's aren't even legal per the NCAA's regulations, although the images provided may have just been that of replicas intended to be sold to the public.  There can be no large block M on the front of the jersey and there must be numbers which meet the requirements posted above.  There are more rules that indicate that any insignia may not be more than 16 square inches in area.
