Been thinking this for awhile

But Simpson should play with Walton.  Those 2 PG looks make it easier for him since there's another capable ball handler on the floor to split playmaking responsibilities with and Walton's so strong and such a good rebounder I think the offensive benefit outweighs the defensive shortcomings, especially when up against opposing units with bench players.  Having two players on the floor that can penetrate and dish really opens up a lot for us offensively.

Sample size is obviously miniscule, but it's something I wish they had gone to earlier in the year and still think they should now.

Re: Walton

Was my favorite player on the team his first 2 seasons, but now I just get annoyed watching him play.  It's like he's in his own head on offense where he doesn't even look to penetrate half the time, which is frustrating because when he does it opens up the floor so much for everybody else and allows them to attack against a shifting defense versus a set one, which virtually none of them have the skill set to do successfully.

Last year I thought there were some mitigating circumstances that could explain away his struggles, but this year has been extremely disappointing, even early in the season when I thought we'd be good.

Massive regression and one that has mirrored Beilein's declining performance over the same period.

Is this like double secret probation?

The negativity over this result is weird

There are things to be concerned about and areas to improve, but the missed field goals take away the gloss from this.  If we'd been up 13-0 at the half or even 10-0 I don't even think they get points.

Magnuson was really bad yesterday.  Idk if anybody else saw him absolutely whiff on Watt on a 3rd down in the 4th quarter leading to Speight getting sacked.

I thought it was incredibly weird that

We had success with Peppers taking the snaps twice and then pulled him out once once we were in short yardage situations inside of the red zone.

Magnuson had a really rough game.  I know Wisconsin's D is legit, but he really stood out to me as being poor in pass protection.

Speight wasn't great, but it also didn't feel like he had much of a chance on a lot of his dropbacks.  He had a few forced throws into tight coverage, so the eventual interception didn't surprise me.  Have a lot of thoughts about Speight after this game, but I need to re-watch it.

Final thought was that if there was plenty of blame to share for many players on offense and special teams, I thought this was one of Harbaugh's poorest outings as a coach.

It's very hard to know if I'm allowing the final score to dictate some of these thoughts rather than also accounting for the missed FGs.

C'mon

There are so many more examples of players leaving than staying.  This is foolish.

Player loyalty?

Get real.

This is a profession where players lose millions by staying in school, risk getting overanalyzed to the nth degree and suffer the perception of limited upside.  None of us would be clamoring to stay in school if we had the opportunity to lock in guaranteed millions considering the numerous risks.

Besides GR3 all the other guys locked in guaranteed first round contracts.  Stauskas and Burke were friggin lottery picks.  You don't pass that up for the greater glory of a school that doesn't pay you shit.

Comparing Hoke to Beilein is a joke

Beyond both being nice guys there's not even a comparison between their acumen and ability as coaches in their respective sports.

Beilein has beaten our biggest rivals several times, won multiple Big Ten crowns and nearly a national title.  Hoke won a fucking Sugar Bowl and spent most of his time getting curb stomped by every meaningful opponent we played.  His teams never punched above their weight in any meaningful way like Beilein have.

We can be disappointed and underwhelmed with Beilein's current performance without denigrating him by drawing a false equivalency to Brady fucking Hoke.

Not sure about the can't coach defense part

But we don't recruit players for their defensive tools that much is obvious.  No matter how good your scheme and game plan are at some point you really need talent to overcome the best teams.  The biggest issue though is the lack of an athletic big, that can set solid ball screens, roll to the rim effectively and finish offensively while being able to hold their own in the post and win contested rebounds on the glass defensively.  The lack of rim protection is frankly embarrassing at this point.

He caps his own ceiling

With how he recruits.  He deserves another year though imo.

Are you Drew Sharp?

Because I'm pretty sure this is how Drew Sharp justifies being a super annoying troll
