71-56 Michigan....   Burke goes for 25 and 10

for those that believe he has NFL aspirations

how do you know?  just curious, as i don't remember seeing any firm evidence of this either.   With Michigan, at least he is currently a college coach, has been one for what? 10 years?   seems to love the college game, love the kids, etc.  played at Michigan, lived in Ann arbor, dad coached at Michigan, loved Bo, etc.    Do you think JIm's act would go over with NFL players?   just curious.....   he seems to me like more of a College guy.

anyway, i'd be curious to hear from those that believe he is "destined" for the NFL, why they believe this based on evidence?    He's night and day from his brother btw, his bro is totally different, conservative, quiet, etc.

He's very positive on the Beilein topic, VERY Positive.....

the same ringing endorsement was not made in the article for Rich.  Just pointing it out....  i noitced it immediately this morning when i read this article.   But, Henning might have left that part out of it too, who knows?

Doug Karsch said on 97.1

a few weeks ago when the Bama Game was made official that a source of his said that one of the home game non-conference opponents willl really surprise people, that it will NOT be a cupcake at all.  didn't get specific with the type of team this could be, but i'm thinking it will be a UCONN type, perhaps a UTAH type from a few years ago, that sort of thing.

so that would make Bama in Dallas, @ND, Decent team like UCONN at HOme, and then Cupcake at home as our Nonconf.   Then we'd head to @NEB, @OSU plus MSU and Iowa at home, amongst others......

it'll be interesting, wonder when we'll hear about it.....

AT Row do you think your too low?

I'm in 14&15 in the south endzone, even with Michigan's football Sideline.   I'm curious if we might be a bit too low - where the glass will sort of block the view?  who knows, they may be terrible, they may be ok.....   for $10/per ticket for 16 of them, it was a no brainer.....

The WVU Investigation

The biggest worry about it i have is that Rich Rod will no doubt be in the media more, it will be negative, any way you slice it, etc.    However, Michigan is done now.  the NCAA came in with a fine tooth comb and investigated US, and we've seen what they were able to find, NOT MUCH.....

the WVU investigation only effects us because our coach was thier coach during the time they are investigating and we will no doubt hear our coaches name in the media, on ESPN, the Freep is probaby on the way down there to get a story going, etc

don't forget about our Freshmen WR's....

CArdo', JJ, J. Robinson, those guy's are big WR's.....   Pro-Style is not a problem from the WR standpoint.....  of course, Stonumn, Hemmingway and Roundtree, as well as Odoms would be our top WR's, but those 3 freshmen would do just fine.....

The OP lost me when he said....

that our current department head is   well spoken, and represents the university well......

ummmmm, no.  he isn't, and he hasn't.  not even close.

i just don't know how you let a guy who is 4-16 in the big ten fire a 2nd DC after his 3rd season as HC, and hire a 3rd to start his 4th year.....   It's just not gonna happen IMO.

When he did end up firing Shaffer after season 1, that was his chance to get it "right".   And while i don't think Gerg is a bad coach, when you hire him to do something he doesn't do, and make him work with people who he doens't know and who from what it seems, are very difficult to work with (running Shaffer out), well - that's on you bud. fool me once, twice, no way in hell there will be a 3rd time.......

Yeah, that's a bit of a stretch....

If the big difference is that it was 32 pts in 4 straight, instead of 33 in 3 straight.... pretty lame stat for sure.

the one that has me very concerned, is that it's happend on three seperate occassions under Rich.  There is no doubt that we are giving up a distrurbing number of yards and pts  over the course of the last 3 years, with this season, the 3rd sesaon, being the worst yet.

AGree with the poster above that....

We need to be going after Avery Walls and Wayne Lyons the hardest and lock one of those up at least. if we pull haha or Karlos on Signing DAy, that would be phenomenal, but with both of those two, the likelyhood is very low, lock up Avery and/or Wayne ASAP!

I agree to a point.....

I think that if Rich Rod is retained after this year, then he's here a minimum of 2 more seasons, as i don't see them bringing in a new coach for the '12 season.  however, if we tank the final 5 games, i don't think he'd hesitate to fire and hire a new coach for the 11 season.  Just IMO.

yeah, but in the instance of

yeah, but in the instance of Harbaugh - he inherited a 1-11 team.......   so, giong 4-8 the first year, while not very good, was a big improvement from the previous year.   then he went what, 5-7?  then 8-5 with a loss in a bowl. now he's 5-1.   I'm just saying, his circumstances were much different.

with the MSU going from 9-3 to 6-7, i hear ya. they underachieved last year.  BUT, i would argue that they were a much better team then us at 6-7 then we were at 5-7.  Losses were losses, but i knew they would be much better this year and they are (i didn't see them going undefeated). they are very young like us btw......

no, i don't blame Rich Rod for Warren and BooBoo and Wolfolk.  But, i do blame him for Dorsey, Witty, JT Turner, Vlad Emeilien, B. Smith, starting C. Gordon at WR when we all new that wasn't going to last, and for not loading up on Defense more in his first class, rather then this past class....

as far as the 3-3-5 and Rich Rod's D philosophy, i disagree so much with the way he has hired two DC's and then forced thier hands and who they have to work with and the fact that TG probably has way more say to RRod then GRob, that it's almost not even worth talking about.  3 years under Rich Rod, 2 DC's and 3 D Schemes.

I'm just not impressed with his ability to field a complete team that is decent in all three phases.  it's nothing personal, i'm just going off of the past 3 years, and by now, i feel that's all we can go off of, because this isn't WVU......

I like Rich Rod, he's a really good guy.... you can just tell

in his interviews, he's humble (the past 3 years have probably help), he's just a regular guy....  on a personal level, i like the guy.

But, am i the only one here that is sick of hearing about how we have to be patient, how these things don't happen overnight, how these problems aren't gonna be fixed over night, etc. etc?  i mean, it's year 3, and whle you state that The Turners, Vlad's, and all the other transfers, non-qualifiers, etc. wouldn't help this team because they don't play for Michigan and never did,

i'm sorry but some of that is on you sir!   that's why in our two deep in our 5 DB Defense, we have 6 True Freshmen, 1 Redshirt Freshmen, 2 sophomores, and a Sr. former WR!      Hey, i got a great idea, since our 2 deep in the Secondary is 70% freshmen, along with a couple of walk-ons, let's play 5 back there instead of 4!  it'll be fun.

The time for being patient, giving them time to get thier guy's in, blah blah blah was when we were 3-9 and 5-7.  So sick of being told to be patient and that in a year or two, these young guy's are gonna be really good!   really?  a year or two?  huh.

DA?

I got the feeling after listening to Sam this morning that it might be DeAnthony Arnett.   Just a hunch, another kid that grew up Blue, but claimed he wanted a pro-style.....   who knows....  it seems according to a thread on Rivals in the last hour that the 2nd surprise isn't happening now, but it will at some point....   we'll see.

Medical Red-shirt

get the kid a medical redshirt, he still has 4 years starting next year and he becomes the 2nd back in this class with D. Hart essentially!   We are done on Offense, aside from perhaps an OL by the name of Bryant and a super by the name of Sammy Watkins, and we got get some effin Defense.  if the class gets to 22 commits, that means 11 more - 9 are Defense!

Brother in Law likes to call us (me and the wife)

Wal-Mart Wolverines because we both went to the University of Detroit, but are huge Michigan Fans.

Brother in law went to State and is a huge fan, but the kicker is, he walks around 365 days a year with an ND hat on and a Sparty Shirt.  I am NOT lieing....   he is a HUGE ND Fan, in addition to being a State Fan.

i kid him that is' just his way of covering himself, in case one of his teams sucks each year.  He claims int's because of his Irish Decent.   He's a piece of work!

on the bright side.....

you'll be singing "The Victor's" with the team after we beat the Sparties!   something your 3 and 5 year old will remember for ever!
